Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently construct a special high voltage protector of an AC electric railcar within a weight limit between limited device installations of the railcar by integrating a breaker with a surge absorber, thereby reducing the weight and a space. CONSTITUTION:A breaker 22 is covered with an insulator which contains a breaking switch 21, and a surge absorber 32 is covered with an insulator which contains a surge absorbing element 31. Supporting insulators 23, 24 insulate and support the breaker 22 or contains an operating mechanism of the switch 21. A breaking controller 25 electrically and mechanically controls the breaker 22. A lead terminal 27 is connected with a main transformer of a vehicle, and a lead terminal 26 is commonly used for the absorber 32 and the breaker 22, and connected with a pantograph of a railcar. An earth lead terminal 28 becomes an earth lead terminal of the absorber 32. The terminal 27, the breaker 22 the terminal 26, the absorber 32 and an earth lead terminal 28 are connected electrically and mechanically in series.
