一方側に吸気ポートを他方側に排気ポートと点火栓を備
えたシリンダヘッドを接合し、前記シリンダブロックに
おける冷却水ジャケットに供給した冷却水をシリンダヘ
ッドにおける冷却水室に導入したのち、シリンダヘッド
における冷却水室からクランク軸の軸方向に流出するよ
うに構成した内燃機関において、前記シリンダヘッドの
シリンダブロックへの接合面には、前記排気ポート及び
点火栓の取付は部の下側を、当該排気ポートと交差する
方向に延びる長溝状通路を設け、該長溝状通路のうち前
記シリンダヘッドの冷却水室からの冷却水出口に近い部
分を前記シリンダブロックにおける冷却水ジャケットに
のみ連通する一方、長溝状通路のうち前記シリンダヘッ
ドの冷却水室からの冷却水出口より遠い部分をシリンダ
ヘッドにおける冷却水室に連通したことを特徴とする内
