Abstract

PURPOSE:To output video and sound with a small-sized device by providing a pair of transparent electrodes on a display screen to which visual information is outputted and fixing one electrode in the display device side and arranging the other freely oscillatory in the direction vertical to the display screen. CONSTITUTION:In a CRT11, pictures are projected onto a screen S by a known method. For example, an SnO2(Sb2O5) film is sprayed onto a plane glass to form a fixed transparent electrode 12, and this electrode is brought closely into contact with the screen of the CRT11. For example, an SnO2(Sb2O5) film is stuck onto transparent base materials consisting of high polymer materials such as polyester, ''Mylar'', or the like to form a transparent electrode 13, and this electrode 13 can be oscillated in the direction vertical to the screen surface and is placed near the transparent electrode 12, and the size of two electrodes is approximately equal to that of the screen. Two electrodes are connected to a signal source 14 and a DC bias 15, and the transparent electrode 13 functioning as a diaphragm is oscillated and driven in accordance with a voltage generated in the signal source 14.

[Prior Art] The mainstream of conventional image display devices is of a type in which a separate image monitor and an audio monitor are housed in one box, as typified by a television. Recently, a system in which an image monitor and an audio monitor are housed in completely separate boxes has been used.

The main type that houses the image monitor and sound system in one box is the type that has small speakers placed on either side or one side of the image monitor and on the same surface as the screen monitor, and the size of the display device is as follows: The disadvantage is that the speakers make the device a little larger than the image monitor screen, which hinders miniaturization. In order to downsize the display device, it is possible to downsize the speaker, but this method has the disadvantage that the sound quality deteriorates, and the miniaturization of the display device and the improvement in the sound quality are not compatible. In order to make the display device more compact, some types of display devices do not place the speakers on the same surface as the image monitor, but instead attach them to the side of the image monitor to save space. The disadvantage is that the sound quality deteriorates because it radiates to the sides.

On the other hand, for image-only monitors that do not have an acoustic monitor,
The disadvantage is that an external acoustic monitor must be used, which greatly detracts from the overall system.

[Embodiment] FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the present invention in which a CRT is used as an image monitor. Here, (a) is a side view of the embodiment,
(b) is a front view. Reference numeral 11 is a CRT, which projects images on a screen S'' by a well-known method. A fixed transparent electrode 12 is formed by spraying, for example, a SnO2 (Sb205) film on a flat glass, and is placed in close contact with the screen-1 of the CRTII. 13 is a polymeric material, for example, 5n02 (Sb205
) Attached to the membrane is a transparent electrode that can vibrate in a direction perpendicular to the screen, and is placed close to the transparent electrode 12 (16). These two electrodes have approximately the same size as the screen, as shown in (b). The two electrodes are connected to a signal source 14 and a DC bias 15, and a transparent electrode 13 functioning as a diaphragm is driven to vibrate in response to the voltage generated by the signal source 14.
