Conventionally, when it comes to fabric pleating, the fabric is folded and sandwiched between a paper pattern with pleat lines in advance, and the fabric is heated and pressurized with steam to set the pleats. This conventional pleat is a pleat pattern such as the full pleat shown in Figures 4 and 5 of the accompanying drawings, or the center box and wheel pleat combination of Figure 6, in either case on both sides of the fabric. It is characterized by the appearance of a pleated pattern. This is unavoidable because the fabric is folded and sandwiched according to the paper pattern to set the pleats as described above. The present invention proposes a method of pleating only one side (mainly the front side) of the fabric, which is completely new and unique from the common knowledge of pleat sets.

That is, the present invention provides a method of pleating only one side of a fabric as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3. According to this invention, it is possible to perform a completely new pleating process that is completely different from the conventional one, and the design of the clothing fabric can be improved.
It can bring a revolutionary new style to processing. The shirring method of the present invention involves sandwiching the fabric to be processed into the grooves of a template member, which has a predetermined groove formed by fixing a groove on the surface of a substrate through which steam passes. The method is characterized in that a plate-like body through which steam passes is placed on the upper surface of the fabric to be processed, and then steam is applied to the plates and the plates are heated and pressurized together, thereby pleating one side of the fabric.

FIG. 7 to 10 relate to an embodiment of the method of the invention. FIG. 7 is a partial perspective view of the template member 10 and the pushing tool 19. This template member 10 has, for example, a pleat pattern P shown in FIG.
Block pieces 15, 15, . . . , which define grooves 12, 12, . The substrate 11 is
It is made of a material that allows steam to pass through, and Japanese paperboard is preferably used. This Japanese paperboard can withstand high temperature and pressure,
It also has the characteristic of not shrinking even after repeated use. In the example, 1r! 100-150 g of paperboard was used per liter. The block piece 15 defines the size, depth and shape of the pleats, and is fixed on the substrate 11. This material may be metal, plastic, paper, etc. as long as it does not lose its shape. The block piece 15 does not have to be particularly permeable to steam.
This is because, as will be described later, the part where the pleats must be made accurately is the substrate part of the inner bottom surface 12'' of the groove 12. FIG. FIG.

In this embodiment, since the width of the groove 12 defining the pleats is narrow, the cloth 9 to be processed is successively held down and set using the pressers 19, 19, . . . as shown in the figure. 9 and 10 are cross-sectional views of the process of forming pleats using a conveyor-type steam heater 30. As shown in the figures, the template member 10 on which the workpiece cloth 9 is set is placed in a predetermined position. Steam heater 30 with steam and heating and pressurizing conditions
can be passed through. While passing through the steam heater 30, the pleats P are formed by steam, heat, and pressure. In particular, it is desirable that the substrate 11 be made of Japanese paperboard or the like that has the property of passing steam, as described above, as this will provide a sufficient fit to the fabric portion 91 set in the groove 12. a. Ru. Note that when passing through the steam heater 30, the plate-shaped body 18 is placed on the upper surface side of the set workpiece cloth 9, as shown in the figure.
As a result, the cloth 9 to be processed can be pressed down and accurate pleating can be performed efficiently. In addition, this place. −
The mating plate-like body 18 is one that allows steam to pass through, and preferably a Japanese paperboard illustrated as the substrate 11 of the template 10 is used. The steam heater 30 is a known so-called pleating machine with a maximum temperature of about 200 degrees, a compressor/pressure of 5 to 6 k9/I, a belt speed of 51 m/min at the maximum, and the material of the cloth 9 to be processed, Conditions are appropriately selected depending on the depth, size, shape, etc. of the pleats.

Here, a male and female lower template member 10A and an upper template member 10B are configured by the template member 10 described in the previous embodiment, and the workpiece cloth 9 is clamped between the interlocking concave and convex portions. This is then subjected to pleating. In the previous embodiment, the concave groove 12 is relatively narrow, and although the pushing tool 19 is used, pleating is possible in that state, whereas in the second invention, the concave groove 12 is held by the upper template member 10B. This relates to the case of pleats that cannot be pleated in their original state unless they are crimped. Specifically, the recess 13 has a large width as shown in FIGS. 11 and 12. The configurations of the lower template member 10A and the upper template member 10B are exactly the same as the explanation of the template member 10 described above, so the common reference numerals will be given and the explanation will be replaced.

In addition, according to the present invention, any desired pleating process such as curved pleats or cross-shaped pleats is possible. As shown and explained above, the present invention provides a method of pleating only one side of the fabric, which is completely new from the common knowledge of conventional fabric pleating processing (pleat setting). It has an extremely wide range of freedom in terms of shape, height, width, etc., and opens up completely revolutionary new frontiers in the design and processing of clothing fabrics.
