該赤外線温度検出器2を作動させるための作動スイッチ
3をミシン操作部lbに設けて布押え部4と連動せしめ
る。そしてミシン外面lcにミシンの周囲温度を検出す
るためにダイオード温度特性を利用した温度検出器5を
設けるとともにミシン本体1に温度比較判定回路手段6
を設ける。該温度比較判定回路手段6は、前記温度検出
器5によつて測定したミシン周囲温度に対して予め設定
された侵入物判断基準となる電圧を発生させる基準電圧
発生器6aと、該基準電圧発生器6aの出力及び前記赤
外線温度検出器2の出力とを比較するレベル比較器6b
より構成される。そして該レベル比較器6bをリセット
スイッチを有する信号ラッチ部7に接続する。該リセッ
トスイッチはミシンのスタートスイッチ8に併用して設
けられ、さらに信号ラッチ部7の出力端子はミシンモー
タ9の回転にブレーキをかけるためのモータ9の回転に
ブレーキをかけるためのモータ制御部10を制御するモ
ータ速度制御回路11に接続されている。本発明の実施
例は前記のように構成され、本装置を使用するときは、
布押え部4と連動する作動スイッチ3を0Nにする。た
だし布押え部4を上昇せしめているときは、作動スイッ
チ3が0N−0FFにかかわらず赤外線温度検出器2は
常に作動状態になつている。したがつて手や指がミシン
の針元附近1aに近づいたときに、ミシンのスタートス
イッチ8を押してもミシンモータ9は始動しない。しか
し、布押え部4を下降せしめると作動スイッチ3は開放
され0N−OFFの切り換えが可能となり、縫製者の熟
練度に応じて赤外線温度検出器2を選択使用することが
できる。前記作動スイッチ3を0N状態にセットして、
赤外線温度検出器2の検知範囲内に手や指を近つけると
、赤外線温度検出器2はそれまでとは温度の異なる人体
の侵入を検知し第3図Aに示すようなパルス状の波形(
以下信号出力2aと称す)を出力する。ただし、信号出
力2aは人体が赤外線温度検出器2の検知範囲内に入つ
た時しか発生しない。ここで、前記検知範囲内に布を近
づけたときも、赤外線温度検出器2は布からの放射温度
による温度変化を検知してしまう。しかし、このとき赤
外線温度検出器2から出力される信号出力2bは布の色
彩によつても多少異なるが、人体の侵入の際生ずる信号
出力2aに比べて小さく、基準電圧発生器6aの出力6
aや布の場合に出力される信号出力2bのピーク電圧2
cに設定しておけば、布の侵入の際生ずる信号出力2b
はカットされ、人体の侵入のみを検出させることができ
る。このとき、布からの放射温度はミシン周囲温度によ
つても多少異なつてくるために温度検出器5によつて常
に温度補正を行ない基準電圧発生器6aからの出力6a
″を補正していかなければならない。そして、該基準電
圧発生器6aからの出力6a″と前記赤外線温度検出器
2からの信号出力とをレベル比較器6bで比較する。こ
こで信号出力2aが出力6a″よりも大きいとき、レベ
ル比較器6bから信号ラッチ部7へ出力される。そして
、このラッチされた信号はモータ速度制御回路11に伝
達されてモータ制動部10を作動せしめ、ミシンモータ
9の回転にブレーキをかけ停止若しくは減速させる。そ
して、再びミシンモータ9を元の速度へ復帰させたいと
きには、前記信号ラッチ部7のリセットスイッチを併用
したミシンのスタートスイッチ8を押すことにより、赤
外線の検知範囲内に人間の手や指の有無を判別してから
再びミシンを元の速度へ復帰させる。又、他の実施例と
してミシン針元附近に音波又は超音波を出力させ、ドッ
プラー効果を利用して前記音波又は超音波に手や指がふ
れることによつて生ずる波長の変化を検出して物体の侵
入をモータ速度制御回路へ伝達するようなことは当業者
であれば容易になし得るものである。本発明は前記のよ
うな構成・作用を有するもので、ミシンの針元附近に赤
外線温度検出器を設けたことにより、今まで縫製に支障
を来たしていたガード部材を取り付ける必要がなくなる
ので縫製面が見やすく、さらに縫製中ガード部材が邪魔
になる恐れもないので、容易に縫製ができ、さらには盲
人用、初心者用として十分に安全性を促すことができる
