Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the number of members and the number of processes for the assembly of a bias light device for an image pickup tube by directly fixing a plural number of light sources to the lower lid and electrically connecting the light sources by means of a conductive paste. CONSTITUTION:The case consists of an upper lid having a rectangular opening 14 and a lower lid having a rectangular opening 15. The lower lid 11 is provided with concaves 17 for positioning LEDs 18. After the lead terminals of the LEDs 18 are cut to a proper length, the LEDs 18 are directly fixed to the concaves 17 of the lower lid 11 by means of an adhesive. Next, lead wires 13 extending from an external power source are fixed to the pins 16 of the lower lid 11 by being wound around them several times so as to bring the lead wires 13 into contact with the lead terminals of the LEDs 18. Next, a given amount of a conductive paste is applied to the lead terminal areas of the LEDs 18 as well as to areas formed between the LEDs 18 and the lead wires 13, then dried. After that, a parallel flat plate 12 is fitted in the opening 15 before the upper lid 10 is attached to the lower lid 11, thereby completing the assembly.

Conventional configurations and their problems In general, photoconductive image pickup tubes used in television cameras have an afterimage phenomenon that often degrades television image quality. This afterimage phenomenon can be greatly improved by applying weak and constant bias light to the image pickup tube target surface.

LEDs are generally used as light sources in bias light devices for image pickup tubes because they generate less heat, consume less power, and are smaller. These LEDs 6 are soldered to the printed circuit board 4 at appropriate intervals and arranged in a line.
Ru. Next, two sets of printed circuit boards 4 are fixedly arranged on positioning projections 9 provided on the case lower lid 2. Furthermore, lead wiring to an external power source is also done by soldering. Thereafter, the soldering flux is removed by washing and drying, the parallel flat plate 3 is assembled, and the case top cover 1 is attached to complete the assembly.
