CONSTITUTION:Various plates A, A' are formed to have bend sections 1a, 1a' bent in an L-shape and extending horizontally on the upper edge 1 side of lugs 1, 1' protruding upward. Multiple sheets of these positive-electrode plates A and negative-electrode plates B respectively are stacked in turn via a separators 2 so that L-shaped lugs 1, 1... of multiple positive-electrode plates A, A... are protruded and aligned on the upper edge 1 side and L-shaped lugs 1', 1'... of multiple negative-electrode plates A', A'... are aligned to assemble an electrode plate group B. The assembled electrode plate group B is held in an inverted state and melted lead or lead alloy is poured into a casting mold 3, and when it is lifted after cooling and coagulation, a strap molded body 5 can be obtained.

Conventionally, the ears of a group of electrode plates for lead-acid batteries are equipped with a pair of molded straps made entirely of lead or lead alloy by the gas flame method using a comb tooth jig and a lead rod or by the cast-on strap method. However, the strap had drawbacks such as relatively high electrical resistance and relatively low mechanical strength. In order to improve the above disadvantages, the applicant first attached a lead or powder alloy strap to the electrode plate with a long core bar made of any metal or alloy having good conductivity such as copper, aluminum, iron, etc. embedded therein. It was proposed that the cast-on strap method be used to manufacture a single piece bound to the ears of the group, but this would improve the conductivity and mechanical properties. A fixing member is required to securely hold the core metal inside with a space for pouring molten metal on its outer periphery, and a fixing operation is required.Furthermore, the fixing member must be used to securely hold the core metal in place for demolding after casting. There is a hassle that requires removal work. The present invention
In this respect, without the need to attach a fixing member to the mold, or to fix and release it, we can use the normal cast-on strap method to attach a molded strap with improved electrical conductivity and mechanical strength to the ear. This relates to a method for manufacturing a lead-acid battery plate assembly with a strap that enables the electrode assembly to be mounted, latched, and held together, and at the same time, to reduce the weight of the electrode assembly. A plurality of electrode plates for lead-acid batteries are made of a material and are entirely covered with lead or lead alloy slats, with or without removing the ears, and are filled with a negative or positive active material. These negative or anode plates are alternately polymerized with plates of the other polarity via separators to form a group of plates, and then a plurality of ears of the same polarity are protruded from each side and arranged in one row. When molding a lead or lead alloy strap into the lead or lead alloy strap, the ear parts are bent in advance into an L-shape in the direction of alignment, and the strap molding is performed in this state. do.

Next, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 shows an anode plate A and a cathode plate used in the method of the present invention, each plate A or 8 has a lug (1) projecting upward on one side of its upper edge (17 is L-shaped). The wedge plate A or A' has horizontally extending bent portions (1a) and (Ia') which are bent in a horizontal direction. The wedge plate A or A' has significantly better conductivity and mechanical strength than lead or lead alloy. Large and strong lead or lead alloys: For example, copper, aluminum, etc., which have a high melting point.
The entire surface of a porous substrate a made of steel or the like is pre-plated with lead or a lead alloy b, and the central porous surface area C is filled with a positive or negative active material d or d' in the usual manner. manufactured respectively.

The highly conductive porous substrate a is, for example, punched out as shown by the chain line from a wide band-shaped metal plate of the material having an expanded surface C in the middle as shown in the second figure, and then the punched plate is plated with lead or a lead alloy. Obtained by processing. Ears (1),

The porous substrate a can be formed by punching from the metal material plate, in addition to using an expanded band as shown in the figure. Generally, the lug (1) of the anode plate A and the lug (1) of the cathode plate A' at one end are left upright without being bent into an L-shape. Ears lined up in a row (

The so-called normal cast-on strap method is performed, in which molten lead or lead alloy is poured into the casting (3), cooled and solidified, and then pulled out. Department (101)・
A molded body (5) of a lead or lead alloy strap is obtained by tightly encasing the ears (1) (1).

By burying the pieces, a similar lead strap with a cored metal is obtained, and the resulting strap has significantly improved conductivity and mechanical strength. When incorporating this into a battery case, it is possible to obtain a lead strap with extremely high charge/discharge characteristics. A good battery can be obtained. Also, since the electrode plates are made of a conductive material like the L-shaped ears, the conductivity from the electrode plate group through the strap is extremely excellent, and an extremely lightweight battery can be obtained. As described above, according to the present invention, the ears of the electrode plate group are made of a material that has better conductivity and higher mechanical strength than lead or lead alloy, and are bent into a single character shape in the direction of the ear row.
These L-shaped ears are closely encapsulated with molded lead or lead alloy straps, so that the L-shaped ears are aligned in the length direction inside the lead-acid strap. It acts as a long core metal, improving the conductivity and mechanical strength of the strap, and since the electrode plate group is also composed of a lightweight metal substrate plated with lead or lead alloy, the overall It is possible to obtain a group of electrode plates equipped with lightweight straps, and it has the advantage of being easy to manufacture.
