ラ20表面温度が必要以上に過熱(以下オーバーヒート
と称する)し、その時間が長期にわたると尚該ローラ2
の近辺に配置した耐熱部品を溶解もしくは発火させてし
まうことになるので、これを防止するため、従来は前記
ヒートローラ2の一外周にサーモスタット又はフユーズ
等の安全装置5を配置し、該安全装置5によってヒート
ローラ20表面温度を常時、耐熱部品の溶解温度以下の
定着に最適な温度になるよ5にコントロールしていた。

にあった。そのために前記安全装置5を該箇所の一外周
に配置し、これによってヒートローラ20オーバーヒー
F時にお(する温度を調整して定着装置自体の安全性を
確保しようとすると、前記安全装置5が該箇所におtす
るヒートローラ20表面温度の上昇によって誤動作して
しまう可能性があり、これを避けるためには安全装置5
自体の、動作温度をより高く設定しなければならず、当
該動作温度を高く設定すると今度はヒートローラ2のオ
ーツζヒート時、ローラ2の表面温度がかなり高くなら
