Abstract

PURPOSE:To simply replace the main engine of a ship, by cutting off the main part of an engine room containing the main engine of the ship having the engine room under a living quarter, by putting the cut-off part aside, and fitting a new engine room main part prepared beforehand and containing a new main engine, sidewards into the ship, and by securing the fitted new main part therein. CONSTITUTION:When the main engine 13 of a ship having a living quarter 11 on the deck of its hull and an engine room 12 under the living quarter is to be replaced, the main part 14 of the engine room, which contains the main engine, is cut off from the hull and put aside so that the living quarter 11 and the upper part 12a of the engine room are left as reinforcements for the work of the replacement. A new main part 16 prepared beforehand and containing a new main engine 15 is fitted sidewards into the hull and secured therein. According to this method, the replaced portions of the ship are minimized and the work of the replacement is simplified.

In addition, the weight of the newly built hull section 1 increases, and when replacing the newly built hull section 1 with the hull section 2, work such as loading and unloading the hull sections 1 and 2 is complicated.
Since reinforcement work is required for these works, there are also problems in that the construction period becomes long and the amount of work becomes large.

For this reason, the ship main engine replacement method of the present invention provides the above-mentioned method for replacing the main engine of a ship that has a living quarters structure on the upper deck of the hull and an engine room below the living quarters structure. The main part of the engine room, including the main engine, was cut from the hull and removed to the side, leaving the living quarters structure and the upper part of the engine room as structural members for reinforcement during construction. The main part of the newly built engine room, including the new main engine, is fitted into the hull from the side and fixed.

Regarding ships with an engine room below the accommodation structure,
When carrying out construction work to replace the main engine, the main part of the engine room, including the main engine, was cut off from the ship's hull and the main part of the engine room, including the main engine, was cut off from the hull, while the above living quarters structure and the upper part of the engine room were left as structural members for reinforcement during construction. The main parts of the newly built engine room, including the new engine prepared in advance, are then fitted and fixed into the hull from the side, which minimizes the number of replacement parts necessary to replace the main engine. Since it can be easily replaced on the bottom of the beam, the complicated work of entering and exiting chestnuts is not necessary, the amount of work can be reduced, and the construction period can be significantly shortened.
