Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacturing process of a sealing member by feeding the cutter almost radially while the work is rotated so that a finished piece which has almost a double ring shape and a concave section configuration in the axial direction may be obtained. CONSTITUTION:A knife-like cutter 13 is set in such a maner that its back 14 is nearly perpendicular to the axis of a cylindrical work 15, and a finished piece 16 is shaped by feeding the cutter in the manner that it takes a concave section configuration in which the angle of the tangent line with respect to the axis is gradually made smaller in the radially outward direction. Because of this, by an arrangement in which one or more finished pieces are retained by a retainer, a sealing member than has alow sliding resistance and a good wear resistance can easily be manufactured.

を呈する内環6及び外環7を互いに周基に組合されて成
る保持部材5とが、保持部2を保持部材5に挟持される
ことにより互いに結合されて密封部材が構成され、保持
部材5をハウジング9に嵌合され、シールリップ3をシ
ャフト10の周面に摺動させてハウジング9とシャフト
10との間をシールしている。
