Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding contact material having superior wear resistance by adding a specified percentage of Au to an alloy material consisting of prescribed percentages of Pd and Ag. CONSTITUTION:A sliding contact material is obtd. by adding 30-50wt% Au to an alloy material consisting of 40-60wt% Pd and 40-60wt% Ag without changing the ratio in the composition. The contact material is provided with improved lubricity and welding resistance by adding said percentage of Au. Accordingly, the contact material has higher wear resistance than a conventional sliding contact material contg. no Au, and it gives a brush contact having low contact resistance comparable to that of a brush contact of the conventional sliding contact material.
