PURPOSE:To attain abbreviated dial service from an optional telephone exchange or an optional subscriber telephone set by registering a conversion table of abbreviated number versus opposite telephone number in a magentic card. CONSTITUTION:In making a call from an opposite subscriber by means of abbreviated dial, a card 1 on which an abbreviated number versus opposite telephone number conversion table is recorded is inserted at first to a telephone set provided with card reading function, then contents of the card 1 are stored in a memory 3 in a telephone set through a card interface 4 by a microprocessor 2. When the subscriber hooks off its handset 8 and dials an abbreviated number to the opposite subscriber number, the said dial signal is transmitted to the microprocessor 2 via a dialer 6. The microprocessor 2 identifies the dial signal and extracts the opposite subscriaber number corresponding to the dial signal from the memory 3. Then the microprocessor 2 controls the dialer 6 and transmits the opposite subscriber number to a telephone exchange.
