Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a ribbon blank material free from fraying and capable of being used for a long period of time, by a method wherein two sheets of strip form materials laminated on each other are integrated to each other at both side edge parts thereof, and at least one of the strip form materials is formed from a synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION:A blank material A as one strip form material 1 let out from a roll B and a blank material C as the other strip form material 2 let out from a roll D are laminated on each other, and the laminate is passed between rolls E, F. In the next step, the laminate is cut to a predetermined width by a fusion cutting knife H, whereby the one strip form material 1 and the other strip form material 2 are welded to each other at both side edge parts thereof, and the resultant material is taken up by a roll G. The laminate thus obtained is impregnated with an ink conforming to each particular apparatus to produce a ribbon. In this case, th strip form material 2 located on the side of the knife H is preferably made of a synthetic resin, while the strip form material 1 on the other side may be formed from either a natural material or a synthetic resin.

Conventionally, two types of ribbons have been used: woven ribbons and film ribbons. Woven fabrics retain ink well and can be used for a long time, but printing in the form of type or needlepoint etc.
There was a risk that it would fray as it was struck by the structure, or that the gaps between the meshes of the fabric would become large, rendering it useless. Furthermore, most film-like products become useless after being used only once, and are quite expensive if they are to be used many times.

The present invention was developed in view of the above-mentioned problems, and the purpose of the present invention is to provide a material such as a ribbon that does not fray even when struck by the tip of a printing mechanism and can be used for a long period of time. It is.

Lay the two strips (1) and (2) on top of each other and place the two strips (1) and (2) on top of each other. It is made by integrating the inner edges of. In this case, a single strip may be folded twice and one side edge may be integrated by gluing, fusing, or the like.

In this case, it is preferable that the strip (2) on the side with the knife (H) for fusing and cutting is made of synthetic resin; The body (1) may be made of natural material or may be a fabric or film made of synthetic resin. Of course, the method of integrating both side edges is not limited to fusion bonding, but also adhesion, and in this case, both strips may be made of natural material. The cutting knife (H) may be in a downward position.

Since the present invention has the above-described structure, when a ribbon is manufactured using the material of the present invention, one strip can be printed with a printing mechanism such as a type or a needle point through the other strip. Even if one of the strips is made of fabric, there is no risk of it fraying or the tip of the printing mechanism getting stuck between the meshes, and both strips have both edges on both sides. The material is adhesive-fused, etc., and the two strips are not completely adhered, but there is a gap between the two strips that can hold the ink, so the ink is retained well and can be used for a long period of time. Since both strips can be used for ink impregnation and protection, both sides can be used, which is extremely effective.
