Abstract

PURPOSE:To change a torsional moment nonlinearly with respect to a torsional angle by constructing a torsion bar with an external hollow and an internal bar, and allowing one of said bars to be actuated until a prescribed torsional angle is attained while both of them to be integrally coupled with each other upon exceeding said torsional angle. CONSTITUTION:A bar body 14 comprises an external hollow bar 16 and an internal bar 18 disposed independently rotatably inside the external hollow bar 16. Small diameter coupling parts 19 on both ends of said internal bar 18 are coupled with a pair of arms 12, 12'. A coupling part 20 for both bars 16, 18 comprises a circular arc-shaped notch 16a provided on the inner peripheral surface of the external hollow bar 16 and a projection 18a provided on the outer peripheral surface of the internal bar 18 and engaged in the circular-arc shaped notch 16a with some play in the rotational direction thereof.

A torsion bar generally consists of a main body connected to an I pair of arms, but in the prior art, this main body has a torsion characteristic that changes linearly, so increasing the torsional rigidity reduces the roll angle. However, on the other hand, it has the disadvantage that riding comfort deteriorates.

Embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 shows a torsion bar 10 according to the present invention, which has a main body connected to a pair of arms 12, 12'. It consists of 14 arms, and these pairs of arms are attached to appropriate positions on the suspension of the vehicle. In FIG. 1, reference numerals 22 and 22' indicate fixing parts of the main body 14 of the bar.

It consists of 8. These inner and outer bars 16 and 18 are arranged so that, as shown in Fig. 2 (A) and (B), one bar acts until a predetermined twist angle and both bars act when this predetermined twist angle is exceeded. It has a connecting part 20 that connects to. In the illustrated embodiment, one bar is the internal bar 18 and the other bar is the external hollow bar 16. Therefore, the internal bar 18
is connected to a pair of arms 12, 12' by small-diameter connections 19 at both ends thereof. The coupling portion 20 consists of a circular notch 16a provided on the inner circumferential surface of the external hollow bar 16 and a protrusion 18a provided on the outer circumferential surface of the internal bar 18 and engaged with the circular arc notch 16a with play in the rotational direction. ing.

Therefore, this torsion t<-10, as shown in FIG. The resulting torsion characteristic is as shown by 0-A-B in FIG. 3. In the above embodiment, the inner bar 18 is connected to a pair of arms so that the inner bar 18 acts up to a predetermined twist angle α, but the outer hollow par 16 is connected to a pair of arms 12.

According to the present invention, as described above, the torsional characteristics are made non-linear to improve ride comfort with small torsional rigidity up to a predetermined torsional angle, and when this predetermined torsional angle is exceeded, both internal and external torsional rigidities are reduced. There is a practical benefit in acting to reduce the roll angle.
