Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain the effective use of the data read out of a magnetic card put into a card reader by using a detection means which detects both insertion and extraction of the card and holding the data stored in a buffer memory during insertion of the card and then clearing the data when the card is extracted. CONSTITUTION:When an inserted card 10 reahes a card insertion detector 12, the position of the card is informed to a CPU1 by a card. Thus a read instruction is delivered to a buffer memory 13. However both the CPU1 and the memory 13 are not reset at a time. In other words, the CPU1 refers to the contents of the memory 13 and can confirm an operator in case plural jobs are designated. Thus the operator can perform continuously plural jobs just by putting an ID card into a card reader. Furthermore the contents of the memory 13 set within the card reader are erased with extraction of the card. This prevents perfectly the misuse of the card reader to an outsider.
