Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the total length of an antenna down to the value corresponding to a receiving band by using the 1st antenna connected to an input terminal, the 2nd antenna set via two pairs of switch elements working in response to a band switch, and an inductance element. CONSTITUTION:In a UHF reception mode the signals are received by an antenna 1 via switches 3 and 4. In this case, the antenna length is set at about 10- 16cm corresponding to 1/4 wavelength of a UHF band. In a reception mode of a VHF high band, the antenna 1 is connected to an antenna 2 by switches 3 and 4 for reception of signals. The length of the antenna 2 is set at about 25-35cm obtained by subtracting the length of the antenna 1 from 1/4 wavelength of the VHF high band. In a reception mode of VHF low band, an inductance element 5 is connected between antennas 1 and 2 by the switches 3 and 4. The total equivalent antenna length is set at about 68-83cm. Thus it is possible to obtain an antenna which can obtain the maximum input in response to the receiving band with reduction of the total length of the antenna.
