Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は使い捨て吸収性物品、たとえは使い捨ておむつ
用の補強した詰綿乃至パネルに関する。
よシ具体的に、本発明は２層の詰綿の間に液体透過性補
強シートを含む多層詰綿に関する。
使い捨ておむつは、洗濯し、再使用しようとするおむつ
に比べて可成ルの長所と便利さをもたらすものであシ、
近年これらの使い捨ておむつは市場において多大の成功
をおさめて来た。代表的な使い捨ておむつの構造は、水
分浸透性表面層と水分不浸透性プラスチック裏打ちシー
トとの間にサンドインチされた比較的高い液体保持力を
有する水分保持層内 込めるものである。この種のおむつは米国特許第３，６
１２゜０５５号（Ｍｅｓｅｋ　ａｔ　ａｌ　）および米
国再発行特許第２６．１５１号（Ｄｕｎｃａｎ　ａｔ　
ａｌ）中に示されている。
従来のおむつの水分保持層は典型的に、ゆるく圧縮した
セルロース系繊維から成る詰綿を含んで構成されていた
。この種の吸収性詰綿を一体的に形成された圧縮紙状層
またはスキンと共に提供することは周知であシ、米国特
許第３．０１７　、３０４号（Ｂｕｉｇｅｎｉ　）およ
び第３．６１２　、０５５号（Ｍｅｓｅｋ　ａｔａｌ）
は典型的なこの種の構造を有するものである。
更に連続的に圧縮された紙状層またはスキンと共に、詰
綿の長さ方向における水分を指向させる縦に延びる厚く
圧縮した領域を備えた吸収性詰綿を提供することも知ら
れておシ、米国特許第３，９３８゜５２２号（Ｒｅｐｋ
ｅ　）はこの種の構造の代表的なものである。
最初に濡れた部分から離れて液体をおむつの隔った領域
に向ける吸上げ機構を提供するのに加えて、この種の圧
縮された層および領域は詰綿に安定性と強度を付与して
来た。この有益な効果にも拘らず、適当なパネル安定性
の欠除が使い捨て吸収性物品技術分野における長年の課
題であ夛、そしてこれは解決すべく残されている。
この問題を解決するために先行技術は吸収性詰綿内また
はこれに隣接して水分不浸透性フィルムまたはシートの
組込み体を集中させてそれを補強し、そしてこの種のシ
ートに開口を設けて液体がその中を通過できるようにし
た。この種のシート乃至フィルムは改良された詰綿の安
定性に寄与したけれども、それらは詰綿の吸収性を犠牲
にしてそうなったのであり、この種のフィルム乃至シー
トは実際に詰綿内またはこれに降接して液体バリヤーを
形成するのである。米国特許第３，６４５゜０６０号（
Ｇｏｌｄｍａｎ　）、第３，８９０，９７４号（Ｋｏｚ
ａｋ　）、第４，０１４，３４１号（Ｋａｒａｍｉ　）
および第４，２８２゜８７４号（Ｍｅｓａｋ　）はこの
種先行技術開示の代表的なものである。
吸収性物品、たとえば使い捨ておむつ用に補強された詰
綿を、濡らされ−た液体を吸収するその能力を損うこと
なく暮供することが望まれているのは明らかである。
本発明によれは、水分浸透性補強シートは吸収材詰綿内
に組込まれて、該詰綿に強度および安定性を付与するの
みならず、詰綿内の吸上げに寄与するものであるが、濡
らされた液体を吸収するための詰綿の能力を妨けるもの
ではない。よシ詳細に、本発明の詰綿は一対の詰綿層を
含み、その間に配置された水分浸透性生地補強シートを
備えている。
補強シートに縛接する各詰綿層には安定性が打力される
。それは繊維間の摩擦係合に基因するものである。本質
的に補強シートは係止乃至引留手段として作用し、これ
は詰綿層が補強シートに対して、および相互に移動する
のを阻止する。
補強シートは好ましくはポリエステル等から形成された
不織布であり、このシートは通常外寸において詰綿層と
同一の広がシを有していてよく、該眉間に配置されてい
る。詰綿層は補強シートよシも可成シ粗く、そしてこの
吸収性詰綿を濡らした液体を補強シートに沿って優先的
に吸上げることになる。液体に対し浸透性なので、補強
シートは詰綿中の液体吸収速度または量に関して実質的
に何らの障害をも示さない。事実、補強シートは詰綿に
対し強度と安定性を付与するので、よシ重い詰綿層を用
いることによシ増強された液体貯蔵容量を提供すること
ができる。
本発明の他の態様によれは、補強シートの内部に拡張手
段を設けて表面材、裏打ち材および詰綿層の屈曲および
伸長に適合させ、それらと補強シートとを関連させる。
よシ具体的には補強シートの中央部にスリットの図形を
設け、これが補強シートを伸長に対して拡張させること
を可能とし、補強シートの引裂けまたは破断を伴わずに
格子状の形状を形成するものである。収縮に対し補強シ
ートは縮み、そしてその当初の非拡張形態を呈する。こ
れらのスリットは部分的に開いていて、おむつが製造さ
れる際、その製造工程中に起こる可能性のある成る種の
収縮乃至縮みに適合する。
本発明には多くの異なった形態における実施態様の余地
があるが、添伺図面および明細書中には好ましい一実施
態様を詳細に示すこととし、また本開示は発明の原理を
例示するものであること、更に本発明を示された実施態
様に限定する意図はないことが理解されるものとする。
本発明の範囲は特許請求の範囲中に示されるものとする
。
添付図面を参照すると、本発明の使い捨ておむつ１０は
水分浸透性材料から形成される表面材１２を包含し、そ
して幼児の皮膚に隣接して位置するようにされている。
おむつ１０は更に外寸において表面材１２と略同−の広
がシを有する水分不浸透性外層１６を備えている。外層
１２および１６間にサンドインチされているのは吸収性
ユニット１４でオシ、これは外寸において外層１２およ
び１６よシも小さく、１ｆｃそれらに対し対称的に配置
されている。当業者には良く理解されているように、吸
収性ユニット１４は離間した平行な接着剤層によυ裏打
ちシート１６に固着してもよく、更に層１２および１６
は、たとえば接着剤層によシ詰ｆａ１１４の外方に互い
に固着されていてもよい。
更に当業者には周知のように、装着者の会陰部の周囲に
おむつ１０を解放可能に取付けるために固着手段が設け
られ、そしてこの種の固着手段は裏打ちシート１６の一
端に固定されるテープタブ１８の形式を取ってもよい。
吸収性ユニット１４は裏打ちシート１６に対し面対面並
列状態で配置される第１乃至下方詰綿層２０を包含して
おシ、また上述の接着剤層によシそれに固着される。詰
綿層２０は、米国特許第３゜６１２、０５５　号（Ｍｅ
ｓｅｋ　ｅｔ　ａｌ　）によシ教示されるようにその下
面に一体の紙状圧縮スキ／ｌ−含んでいてもよく、また
この種のスキンは、米国特許第３、９３８．５２２号（
Ｒｅｐｋｅ　）によシ教示されるように選択された領域
において厚くされていてもより０吸収性ユニツト１４は
補強シート２４の形態の中間層を備え、これは図示され
るように外寸において詰綿層２０と略同−の広がシを有
し：かつ、これに対し面対面の並列状態で配置されてい
る。
補強シート２４は外寸において表面材および裏打ち層と
同一の広がシを有する必要はなく、従ってこれらの層よ
シも短かくても、あるいは僅かに長くてもよい。しかし
、重要なのは、以下に示されるように、補強シート、特
にその波長手段がおむつの中心部に存在すべきことであ
る。
シート２４は不織布でｓｂ、そしてその下面における繊
維および詰綿層２０の上面における繊維は繊維間摩擦係
合によシ共動して詰綿層２０に対し補強シート２４を適
所に係止する。補強シート２４はポリエステル不織布（
５ｐｕｎ−ｂｏｎｄｅｄ　ｐｏｌ）’ｅ８ｔｅｒｉａｂ
ｒｌｅ　）のような液体浸透性布である。繊維の重量は
本発明に関し臨界的なものではないが、繊維重量的０．
７　ｏｚ／ｙｄ２（約２３．７ｆ／ｎ？）を有するポリ
エステル不織布が本発明の目的にとって満足すべきもの
であることが見出されている。補強シートは、その種の
シートが水分吸収性である限シ、その他の高分子材料、
たとえばポリエチレンから形成されていてもよい。本明
細中で用いられる術語「水分浸透性」は詰綿層２２から
水分浸透性補強シートを経由して下敷詰綿層中への水分
の透過を実質的に妨げない繊維に関する用語である。補
強シートは隣接の詰綿層よシも大き々密度を有して、吸
収性ユニット内に吸上げ機構を提供するのが好ましい。
吸収性ユニット１４は補強シート２４に対して重ね合わ
せた関係で配置された鎖２詰綿層２２を備えている。詰
綿層２２は詰綿層２０および補強シート２４と略同−の
外寸を有し、そして実質的に補強シート２４と隣接して
いる。詰綿２２は、詰綿ＷＪ２２と補強シート２４との
接触面における繊維間摩擦係合の共動作用によって、補
強シート２４、ひいては詰綿層２０に対する運動に抗し
て保持される。
数種の異々つだタイプの材料も表面材層１２に用いるこ
とができる。たとえは、米国特許第３゜６６３　、３４
８号に記載されるように、この胴料は繊維の混合物から
成る不織布ウェブであってもよく、該混合物は７５パー
セント乃至９８パーセントの量における優勢で安価な、
短いセルロース系繊維、たとえば短い木材パルプ繊維ま
たはコツトンリンターと残シは編織布長さの繊維、たと
えばレーヨンから成っている。
本発明に係るおむつの表面材層形成に用いるのに適した
不織布拐料は布重量が約０．５〜５　ｏｚ／ｙｄ２（約
１７〜１７０　ｆ／ｌｒ？　）の範囲内にあシ、また密
度は０．１５　ｆ／ｃｃ未満、一般に０．０５乃至約０
．１　ｔ／ｃｃの範囲内にあシ、約１．５ｏｚ／ｙａ”
　（約５０　ｆ／ｒｒ？　）の重量を有する布拐料の乾
燥強度は縦方向において、インチ幅当シ少なくとも０．
１５　ｔ　ｈ　（約２６．７１７１ｍ　）、そして横方
向においてインチ幅当シ少なくとも０．１ｚｂ（約１．
８１７ｃｍ）である。このような布は良好な伸び、ロフ
）　（ｔｏｆｔ　）、軟度およびドレープ特性を有して
いる。
また、表面材は開口を設けた不織布から調製してもよく
、これは、たとえば米国特許第２，８６２゜２５１号、
第３　、０８１　、５１４号および第３，０８１，５１
５号の教示によ層形成されるものである。更に表面材は
、たとえば米国特許第３　、４８５　、７０６号（Ｅｖ
ａｎｓ）中に開示され、かつ記載された他のタイプの布
からも調製することができる。この種の表面材は天然繊
維、合成繊維またはそれらのブレンドから調製可能であ
る。ポリエステルタイプの繊維から調製された代表的な
おむつ表面材は約０．７５　ｏｚ／ｙｄ２（２５，４ｒ
／Ｗ？）の重量を有している。
表面材は農打ち材と同一寸法、そして同一の広がシを持
っていてもよいし、あるいは表面羽は裏打ち材よルも広
く、内側に折込んだその側端縁を有していてもよく、そ
の結果表面材は、米国特許第３．６１２．０５５号の第
３図に示されるように、裏打ち材と同一の広がシを有す
ることになる。更に、表面拐は非開口性材料、たとえば
不織等方性ウェブまたはハ「望の水分浸透性を有する開
口を備えたポリオレフィンまたはポリエステルフィルム
がら１１［してもよい。前述の表面材の全てにおいて、
該材料は表面材中の吸上を抑制するように相対的に疎水
性であるべきである。
本発明に係るおむつの裏打ち材１６用に適した材料は不
透明なポリオレフィン、たとえば約ｏ、ｏｏｉインチ（
０，００２５４１Ｍ）厚のポリエチレンであればよい。
この目的に適した他の材料は約９．００５インチ（約０
．０１２７ｍ　）厚のポリエチレンテレフタレートであ
る。
詰綿層２０および２２はゆるく圧縮した短いセルロース
繊維、たとえば水胴パルプ繊維またはコツトンリンター
、あるいはそれらの混合物から形成され、それらは、当
該技術分野において知られるように、接着剤を添加する
ことなく、繊維間結合によシ相互に保持されるものであ
る。要約すれば、これらの詰綿層はゆるく圧縮されたセ
ルロース繊維、好ましくは、いわゆる「綿毛」の形態の
粉砕されたパルプ繊維から成る低嵩密度のコヒーレント
なウェブである。
本明細書中で用いられる術語「短繊維」は、長さ約１７
４インチ（約０．６４ｃｍ）よシも長い、通常長さ１／
２乃至２！／２インチ（約１．２７〜６．３５譚）の「
長繊維」または「布長さ繊維」に対し、長さ約１／４イ
ンチ未満のものを称する。
詰綿層２Ｄおよび２２は別々の層として形成すればよく
、その後圧いに、かつまた補強シート２４に対して上記
の関係をもって位置させれはよい。
或いは詰綿層２２は補強シート２４上に直接配置するこ
とによ多形成することも可能である。いずれの場合にも
、得られた複合積層品は軽く圧縮して、補強シート２４
の繊維と詰綿層２０および２２の接触面上の繊維との間
の繊維間摩擦係合を高めることができる。
補強シート２４はその中央部に拡張手段２６を備えてお
シ、おむつ１０の適用および装着の間に生ずる裏打ち材
、表面材および詰綿層の拡大および収縮に適合するよう
になっている。拡張手段２６は開口部の存在しない端部
２８および３０間の補強シートの中央部に設けられてい
る。拡張手段２６は複数乃至平行列の細長いスリット３
２にょ多形成され、これらは補強シートの側面に対して
直角に配置されている。最初おむつが製作されたとき、
補強シート２４はスリット３２を部分的に開放するよう
に引張られる。このことが、引続く製造工程中に熱およ
び／または水分にょ）生ずる可能性がある補強シートの
収縮乃至縮みに適合するものとなる。
第４図から明らかなように、隣接する列のスリット３２
．は互いにジグザグに、重なシ合った関係をもって位置
している。その結果、補強シートが拡張されると、拡張
手段２６は通常、菱形開口３４を形成する開放された格
子状構造を形成することになる。開口３４間の非スリッ
ト布部分は多数のヒンジをもたらし、これがシートを可
撓にし、そして表面材、裏打ち材および詰綿層の動きに
従わせることを可能とする。シート２４の拡張はそれが
裂けたシ、破損したシすることなく行われるので、シー
トはその補強作用を連続して果たすことになる。拡張力
（第５図の方向矢印Ｆによシ示す）が解除されると、補
強シートは収縮して、第４図に示すその当初非拡張位置
に戻シ、そこではスリットは第５図に示す完全拡張開口
３４の寸法の約２５チ開いている。
添付図面に示される使い捨ておむつ１０は、その対向端
に弾性要素を包含していないが、その種のおむつが、幼
児の脚の周シに改良された適合性と封止を提供すること
は周知である。本発明に係る拡張手段を備えた補強パネ
ルはこの種のいわゆる「適合性おむつ」に用いるのに特
に適している。
使用に際し、使い捨ておむつは、それを−重で、平坦な
面に配置して乳児をその上に寝かせることによシ該乳児
に適用する。このおむつの腰部の下に横たわる端部はフ
ァスナ一手段を備えた端部であり、そしておむつの他端
拡乳児の脚の間で下方に延びている。次に、おむつの下
方に延びた端縁を乳児の脚の間に持って来て会陰部を覆
い、かつ乳児の腰の前部と連続的になるように位置させ
る。
その後、腹部′ｔＲ覆用端の腰部のコーナーを、それが
乳児の腰の周りにまわる限シ配置し、かつおむつの下に
横たわる端部のコーナーを先に述べたコーナーと重なり
合った関係とすることによりおむつを乳児に固着し、そ
の結果おむつは乳児の腰をぴったりと取巻き、そして本
来的な適合を提供する。次いで使用する粘着テープファ
スナーを準備し、そしてテープタブの感圧接着剤面を単
純に、おむつの対向コーナーの隣接外表面と接触させる
ことによシ所望位置におむつを固定させる。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 （１）水分不浸透性裏打ちシート状の第１外層と多層吸
    収性パッド手段の形態の第２層と、多層吸収性パッド手
    段の上に横たわる水分浸透性表面材シート状の第３層と
    を含んで構成され、前記パッド手段は前記第１外層より
    も小さく、かつその辺から内方に向かって間隔を有し、
    該パッド手段は前記第１外層に対し重ね合わされた関係
    で配置される第１セルロース性繊維詰綿と、前記第１詰
    綿に対し重ね合わされた関係で配置される水分浸透性補
    強シートと、前記水分浸透性補強シートに対し重ね合わ
    された関係で配置される第２セルロース性繊維詰週とを
    含んで成シ、そして前記水分浸透性補強シート轄、それ
    がその間に配置されたセルロース性繊維詰綿の２Ｒに補
    強および構造的全体性を付与することを特徴とする吸収
    性物品。 （２）水分浸透性補強シートが、水分不浸透性裏打ちシ
    ートおよび水分浸透性表面材シートに可撓性を必然的に
    もたらす、その拡張手段を備え、それによシセルロース
    性繊維詰綿の２層の構造的完全性が維持される特許請求
    の範囲第１項記載の吸、収性物品。 （３）水分浸透性補強シートが、その中央部に設けられ
    た拡張手段を有する不織布を含んで構成される特許請求
    の範囲第２項記載の吸収性物品。 （４）拡張手段は、水分浸透性補強シートの端部が引伸
    ばされたとき、補強シートの中央部に網目格子タイプの
    構造を形成するような複数個の開口を含んで構成される
    特許請求の範囲第３項記載の吸収性物品。 （５）拡張手段が水分浸透性補強シートの中央部内に複
    数個の均一なスリットを含んで構成され、前記スリット
    は前記補強シートの左右に延びる列において設けられる
    特許請求の範囲第４項記載の吸収性物品。 （６）吸収性物品が、略長方形で、同一の広がシを有す
    る水分不浸透性裏打ちシートと水分浸透性表面材シート
    とを備える使い捨ておむつであシ、パッド手段が略長方
    形であシ、かつ裏打ちシートと表面材シートに対し略対
    称的に配置されている特許請求の範囲第１項記載の吸収
    性物品。 （力　水分不浸透性裏打ちシート状の第１外層と、裏打
    ちシートに対し重ね合わされた関係で配置され、かつ裏
    打ちシートよシも小さく、すなわちその長手側端縁から
    内方に向かって間隔を有して舘２層を形成する第１吸収
    性詰綿と、裏打ちシートの反対側で、第１詰綿層に対し
    重ね合わされ、対面した関係で配置される拡張可能水分
    浸透性シート手段の形態の第３廟と、第２層の詰綿の反
    対側で、拡張可能シート手段層に対し重ね合わされ、対
    面した関係で配置される第２吸収性詰綿状の第４層と、
    拡張可能シート手段の反対側で、第４層である第２詰綿
    に対し重ね合わされ、対面した関係で配置される水分浸
    透性表面材シート状の第５層とを含んで構成され、拡張
    可能シート手段層は通常、第１詰綿層と同一寸法を有し
    、餓４層である第２詰綿は通常、拡張可能シート手段と
    同一寸法を有し、そして表面材シートは水分不浸透性裏
    打ちシートと同一寸法を有し、それによシおむつの周囲
    を囲んで縁辺部をもたらし、その中では裏打ちシートと
    表面層シートとが互いに接触し、かつ固定されているこ
    とを特徴とする略長方形の多層使い捨ておむつ。 （８）拡張可能シート手段が、その縦方向の中央に設け
    られた拡張手段を有する不織布を含んで構成される特許
    請求の範囲第７項記載の使い捨ておむつ。 （９）　拡張手段は、拡張可能不織布シートの端部が該
    シートの縦方向に沿って引伸ばされたとき、拡張可能不
    織布シートの中央部に格子型の構造を形成するような複
    数個の開口を含んで構成される特許請求の範囲第８項記
    載の使い捨ておむつ。 （１１拡張手段が拡張可能シート手段の中央部内に複数
    個の均一なスリットを含んで構成され、前記スリットは
    その横方向に延びる列において、交互の列のスリットが
    網目格子タイプの構造を形成し、一方縦方向に拡張可能
    不織布シートの端部を引伸すと、細長い６辺の菱形開口
    を形成す、るように配置されている特許請求の範囲第９
    項記載の使い捨ておむつ。
