Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable molding of the titled rod in a complicated shape and to enable to reduce an insulated space, by a method wherein an electrode is molded of composite ceramics having conductivity, the whole of which other than a terminal part and a contacting part with a flame is covered with a coating material made of nonconductive ceramics. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 6 are formed by confronting two pieces of them with each other, which are, for example, composite ceramics consisting of silicon carbide and zirconium boride at about 50% composition respectively and having conductivity. Coating material 9, for example, consists of nonconductive ceramics made of aluminum nitride. A terminal part 8 and a contacting part 7 with a flame are not coated and the electrode 6 is kept exposed. A flame rod 2 is fixed close to a burner 1, the contacting part 7 with a flame is positioned within the flame 4, existence of the flame 4 is detected and a gas valve 5 is controlled through a flame controller 3. With this construction, the electrode can be made into a complicated shape according to circumstances where it is used and an insulated space can be reduced.

The present invention has been made to eliminate the above drawbacks,
The electrode is formed of a conductive composite ceramic, and all of the electrodes except the terminal portion and the flame contact portion are covered with a coating portion made of a non-conductive ceramic. With such a configuration, it is possible to provide insulation properties, thereby making it possible to mold into complex shapes, and to reduce the insulation space.
