Abstract

PURPOSE:To transfer an ink with a high transfer probability irrespective of the kind of a recording medium, by a construction wherein the distance from a thermal head to the point of separation between an ink film and a recording medium can be set to an optimum value according to the kind of the recording medium used. CONSTITUTION:For example, in the case of a recording medium having a high surface smoothness and substantially free of absorption of an ink, such as a sheet for an overhead projector, the ink transfer probability is higher as the distance from the thermal head 4 to a separating roller 5 is shorter. In this case, a lever 7a is once tilted in the direction of an arrow F, is then tilted in the direction of an arrow E, and is fitted into a groove H of a stopper 11, whereby the roller 5, a separating pawl 6 and a link 7b are moved, so that the position of separation between the film 1 and the recording medium 2 is set to be nearer to the head 4. In the case of a paper or the like which has a low surface smoothness, the ink transfer probability is higher as said distance is longer. In this case, the lever 7a is tilted in the direction of an arrow D, and is fitted into a groove I of the stopper 11, whereby the position of separation of the film 1 and the recording medium 2 is set to be farther from the head 4.

In a thermal transfer recording device, an ink film coated with heat-soluble ink (hereinafter referred to as ink) and plain paper, A4
The separation mechanism from the recording medium such as OHP sheet or the like is the first one.
As shown in the figure, an ink film 1 and a recording medium 2 are overlapped and sandwiched between a platen roller 3 and a thermal head 4 which is a heating means, and the back side of the ink film 1 is selectively heated by the thermal head 4, and thermal head 4
from there to the separation roller 5 by means not shown,
When the path of the ink film 1 is suddenly changed in the direction of arrow A by the separation roller 5, the recording medium 2 cannot follow the lip deviation due to its own rigidity, and naturally separates from the ink film 1, causing the separation claw to 6, scooped up and arrow BC
), the rate at which the ink of the ink film 1 selectively heated by the thermal head 4 is transferred to the recording medium 2 (hereinafter referred to as probability) is determined by the time point at which heat is applied by the thermal head 4. It is related to the time from to the point of separation by the separation claw 6, that is, the distance from the thermal head 4 to the separation position.

Fig. 2 is a graph showing the results of an experiment to find out that the transfer probability changes depending on the distance from the thermal head 4 to the separation position. The horizontal axis is the distance from the thermal head 4 to the separation position, and the vertical axis is the distance from the thermal head 4 to the separation position. is the transcription probability. (2) is a case where an OHP sheet or art paper is used as the recording medium 2, (2) is a case where plain paper with high smoothness is used, and (2) is a case where plain paper with low smoothness is used. It has been confirmed through experiments that the high transfer probability differs depending on the type of recording medium used. This is due to the smoothness and ink absorption of the recording medium surface and the temperature change of the ink melted by the thermal head. It is better to separate the ink as soon as possible, and it is better to separate it from the thermal head and wait for the ink melted by the thermal head to solidify sufficiently if the ink is absorbent but has a low surface smoothness. It is shown that. ' However, in conventional thermal transfer recording devices, the distance from the thermal head 4 to the separation position is fixed, so depending on the type of recording medium used, some are transferred with a high probability, while others are rarely transferred. However, the type of recording medium that can be used is limited depending on the device.
