The main body has an outer panel on the outside and an inner panel on the inside, and a key cylinder is attached to the outer panel. In the tailgate of an automobile, a mechanism section is provided at the lower end of the tailgate body, and the engagement mechanism section is engaged and disengaged in response to operation of a key cylinder lever of the key cylinder. A reinforcing member for reinforcing the tailgate body, which is disposed on each side of the key cylinder, is provided with a water receptacle extending below the key cylinder, and water droplets fall through the key cylinder lever of the key cylinder. A tailgate for an automobile, characterized in that the water receptacle is guided through a part to a drainage hole formed at a position apart from the engagement mechanism part.
