Abstract

PURPOSE:To charge instantaneously and accurately the using fee by performing the transfer of data between a host data processing system and a front end processor for each segment corresponding in 1:1 to packets. CONSTITUTION:The transmission/reception data are transferred between a host data processing system 4 and a front end processor FEP in the form of segments as well as between the FEP and a DDX packet exchange network 5 in the form of packets. In other words, the data are decomposed into segments by a communication access method of the system 4. The FEP transmits the segment directly as a packet. This procedure is reversed in a reception mode. As a result, the segments the 1:1 correspondence is secured between segments and packets. Thus it is possible to grasp the number of transmission/reception packets by a communication access method.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Field of Application of the Invention] The present invention relates to billing to users in a DDK bucket switching network that uses pay-as-you-go billing. This invention relates to a method for determining the number of buckets for each user that realizes instant billing.

The method of charging users +- usage fees is as follows:
Conventional 1: A front-end processor (hereinafter abbreviated as FBI) is equipped with a statistical record collection function, and the records are sucked up to the post data processing system asynchronously or after network operation is completed, and the records are sent to the user using record numbers, etc. identify and perform bulk billing processing.

There was a method called. However, method 1 does not allow billing processing during use. In addition, in method 2, the number of input/output lines does not necessarily correspond to the amount of data on the line (number of buckets); for example, if data compression is performed to increase transmission efficiency, the difference between the number of input/output lines becomes large. There were drawbacks.

In other words, FEP only controls the exchange of DT packets and does not generate its own T-bucket. The data processing system can determine the number of packets as is. As a result, accurate billing is possible through processing only by the host data processing system.

FIG. 5 shows a concept for realizing billing processing based on the arrangement shown in FIG. 1 and the FEP processing shown in FIG. 2. Transmitted and received data is sent and received as segments between the host data processing system 4 and the FEP. That segment is FEP
The information is exchanged between the DI)X bucket exchange network 5 and the DI)X bucket exchange network 5 in a bucket manner. That is, data is decomposed into segments using the communication access method of the host data processing system 4, and F
In the EP, the segment is converted as is and transmitted. For reception, do the opposite. By doing this, segments correspond one-to-one to buckets, so the number of transmitted and received packets can be ascertained using the communication access method.

The billing processing routine is activated each time one user session ends. Then, it obtains session information (information such as user In) and the number of transmitted/received segments (which directly corresponds to the number of transmitted/received packets) from the communication access method, and performs billing processing for the session to the corresponding user.
