Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the direction directly in the daytime by providing a means, which gives a position corresponding to the angle of incidence of solar rays onto the surface of a parabolic antenna, and a scale means which gives a measured value of the antenna direction. CONSTITUTION:A needle member 32 is attached to the top part of a radiating part 33. A lattice-shaped scale part 34 is provided on the surface of an antenna body 24. The shadow of the needle member 32 on the surface of the antenna body due to solar rays is used for determining the direction of the antenna. On a basis of reading the position of this shadow on the scale part, the antenna direction is determined by regulating members 14 and 16 in consideration of the latitude and the longitude of the antenna installation position and the standard time.

Conventionally, in the case of small parabolic antennas used as ground station antennas for communication satellites, the mounting position has been determined by using the position of the North Star or a magnetic pointer as a bearing. However, this method has drawbacks such as low accuracy and the fact that it can only be installed on the antenna support.

The present invention has been made to solve these drawbacks simply and at low cost, and embodiments thereof will be described below with reference to the drawings. In FIG. 1, the parabolic antenna IO is first mounted on a mounting base 12 arranged in a substantially horizontal position.

As shown in FIG. 2, the antenna 10 has two direction adjustment members 14 and 16. First direction adjustment member 14
is provided between the antenna support portion 18 and the antenna pivot portion 22, and thereby the direction of the antenna can be rotated about the pivot point 22. The second directional hook member 16 is provided between the antenna pivot joint and the back surface of the parabolic antenna main body row, and the antenna main body 24, which is pivoted at 28, is connected to the pivot joint by a line connecting the points 26 and 28Y. The present invention provides a means for determining such adjustments. The usual method of determining direction using the North Star is difficult because it is limited to nighttime. Indirect measurement using a compass has large errors and is easily influenced by work experience.

The present invention provides an extremely simple direction determining means. Direction measurements are given during the day and directly. As shown in FIG. 1, which shows the surface of a row of parabolic antenna bodies, a typical parabolic antenna has a waveguide section 31 and a collector section or radiating section 33. In one embodiment of the present invention, a pointer member 32 is attached to the top of the radiating section 32.

Further, for example, a grid-like scale scale is provided on the surface of the antenna main body array. The direction of the antenna is determined by using the shadow of the pointer member 32 on the surface of the antenna body caused by sunlight. Based on the reading on the scale based on the position of this shadow, the antenna direction is determined by the adjustment members 14 and 16, taking into consideration the latitude, longitude, and standard time of the antenna installation point.

Alternatively, scale paper or the like may be temporarily attached to a predetermined position on the surface and removed after the orientation is determined. The scale is not limited to a grid shape, but may be a curved scale as long as it can measure the direction based on time and position.
