Claims

a light source drive circuit having a switching transistor connected in series with a light source of a display device configured to be connected to a power source when a main switch or a sub switch is turned on; a bias selection circuit that includes transistors that are rendered non-conductive when the sub-switch is turned on, and forms a circuit that biases the switching transistor to the on-state when the transistors become conductive; and a variable bias selection circuit that changes the duty ratio of the output pulse. It has an adjustment element such as a resistor, outputs a pulse having the duty ratio when the sub-switch is turned on, adds the pulse to the switching transistor, and turns on the switching transistor for a period according to the duty ratio. A dimmer for a display device, comprising a pulse generator.
