装置において、シフトレバ−がドライブレンジにあると
きにドライブレンジ信号を出力するドライブレンジスイ
ッチと、前記シフトレバ−がニュートラルレンジにある
ときにニュートラルレンジ信号を出力するニュートラル
レンジスイッチ、またはシフトレバ−がパーキングレン
ジにあ、 るときにパーキングレンジ信号を出力する
パーキングレンジスイッチと、前記ニュートラルレンジ
信号またはパーキングレンジ信号が出力されていること
を少なくとも含むエンジン停止条件が満足されたときに
、エンジン停止信号を出力する停止信号発生手段と、少
なくとも前記ドライブレンジ信号が出力されていること
を含むエンジン再始動条件が満足されたときに、エンジ
ン再始動信号を出力する再始動信号発生手段と、前記エ
ンジン停止信号に応動してエンジンを停止させるエンジ
ン停止手段と、前記エンジン再始動信号に応動してエン
ジンを再始動させるエンジン再始動手段と、前記エンジ
ン停止信号に応動して前記自動変速機の変速ギアを三速
以上に選択するとともにエンジン始動後に前記変速ギア
を一連に選択する変速ギア選択手段とを具備したことを
