Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a colored mirror (dark mirror) having freely selectable base color and excellent decorative effect, by forming a thin transparent reduced lead nitrate film on the surface of a plate glass, and coloring the coating film. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of lead nitrate is added slowly to an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide under agitation to obtain a compound liquid. A mixture of 100pts. of a thiourea liquid and about 0.5pt. of the above compound liquid is poured on the surface of a plate glass, and the compound liquid is reduced for about 15min. The glass is washed with boiling pure water, and a mixture of 100pts. of a thiourea liquid and about 250pts. of the above compound liquid is poured on the surface of the glass to effect the reduction of the compound liquid for about 7min. The process is repeated twice to form a transparent film of reduced lead nitrate. If necessary, the film is treated with an adhesive, and colored to a desired color to obtain a dark mirror.

In the present invention, the first step is to reduce the adhesion of lead nitrate on the glass surface by approximately 0.5
A substantially equivalent solution of sodium hydroxide and lead nitrate at a ratio of /100 is poured onto the surface of the glass and left for about 15 minutes.
After rinsing with boiled pure water, as a second step, the above-mentioned chourea solution and 2.5 times the above-mentioned compound solution were poured onto the glass surface, left to stand for about 7 minutes, and then roughly washed as a third step. By pouring the same amount of solution as in the second step again and reducing it for the same amount of time, a thin transparent film-like reduced lead nitrate film is formed on the surface of the glass. After this drying, the base color is applied. After that, a protective layer is formed.

As described above, in the present invention, a reduced film layer of lead nitrate is formed on the surface of the glass while maintaining transparency, and the ground color is colored on the surface. Various ground colors can be freely highlighted, further enhancing the decorative nature of dark mirrors, and increasing their uses.
This has the effect of greatly expanding the scope of use.
