Abstract

PURPOSE:To make uniform the temperature of an inner pad and an outer pad and prevent appearance of differene in abrasion resistance between both pads by providing cooling holes in an outer peripheral part of a rotor in two rows and positioning a throat part in the middle of the rows and thereby equalizing heat capacity of thick parts of both inner and outer sides. CONSTITUTION:A rotor 12 for a disc brake 11 is formed in such a manner as its throat part 12e is positioned in the central part C in the direction of thickness of the outer peripheral part 12a of the rotor 12, and cooling holes 12b are formed, with 1/2t of the breadth (t) of the former example respectively, in two rows on the outer peripheral part 12a, while the length in the circumferential direction and the number of the cooling holes are same as the former examples. Cooling air flows radially from the central part of the rotor 12 to cool the inner thick part 12f and the outer thick part 12g with the same airflow as that of the former example. Since both parts 12f, 12g are same not only in thickness but also in distance from the throat part 12e, they are same in heat capacity and cooled uniformly. As a result, the inner pad 3 and the outer pad 4 are equalized in rise in temperature and difference in abrasion resistance is not induced between two pads.

Conventionally, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, in a rotor 2 for a disc brake 1, a width t7! A cooling hole 2b was provided. Therefore, the sliding surface 2C facing the inner pad 3 is located far from the throat portion 2e, and the sliding surface 2d facing the outer pad 4 is located continuously from the throat portion 2e, so that the inner wall thickness at the outer peripheral portion 2a is The heat capacity of the portion 2f is small and is therefore susceptible to pathology, and the heat capacity of the outer thick portion 2g is large and therefore cannot be kept at a low temperature, resulting in a temperature difference between the inner pad 3 and the outer pad 4. Therefore, there was a drawback that the shore abrasion resistance of both pads 3.4 was not uniform. In FIG. 1, 5 is a caliper, 6 is a piston, 7 is a hub, 8 is an axle housing, 9 is an axle, and 1io is a hub bearing.

The present invention has been made to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art, and its purpose is to provide two rows of cooling holes on the outer circumference of the rotor and position the throat portion in the center. By doing this, the heat capacity of the inner thick part and the outer thick part are made equal and equal to each other.

The present invention will be explained below based on embodiments shown in the drawings. Third
In the figures and FIG. 4, the rotor 12 for a disc brake 11 according to the present invention is formed such that the throat portion 12e is located at the center C in the thickness direction of the outer peripheral portion 12a of the rotor 12. Cooling holes 12b are provided in two rows on the outer peripheral portion 12a on both sides of the cooling hole 12b. and cooling hole 12
The width of b is 1/2 of the width t of the conventional example, that is, 1/2t, and the length in the circumferential direction and the number of cooling holes are the same as in the conventional example. In FIG. 3, the same parts as in the conventional example are designated by the same reference numerals, and the explanation thereof will be omitted.

The present invention is configured as described above, and its operation will be explained below. Cooling holes 12b are provided in two rows, and a throat portion 12e is formed in the center C of the cooling holes 12b, so that the rotor 12 rotates as the vehicle travels, and when the brake is applied, the piston 6 is actuated. The inner pad 3 is pressed against the inner sliding surface 12c and slides, and the outer pad 41d is pressed against the outer sliding surface 12dK and slid.

The cooling air flows radially from the center of the rotor 12 to cool the inner thick part 12f and the outer thick part 12g, and the air volume is the same. 2. Since the internal thick parts 12f and 12g have the same thickness and are located at the same distance from the throat part 12e, their heat capacity is equal to L7, so they are cooled uniformly, and as a result, the temperature of the inner pad 3 and outer pad 4 increases. are made uniform, and there are no differences in wear resistance.
