In a vibration isolating device in which a supported body is supported by a thick rubber elastic body, magnetic powder is sealed in the rubber elastic body with a predetermined air chamber left in the upper part, while the supported body is supported by vibration. A sensor is provided to detect phase displacement with the body, and based on the signal from the sensor, a magnetic field is applied in the vibration damping area to collect the magnetic powder in the direction of the magnetic field, giving a bonding force between the powders, and vibration damping is achieved.
