Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the feeling of heating by arranging an electric heating device with a fan and a heater matched with the capacity of a battery inside a flat casing in the lower part of an instrument panel and the like for blowing wind to the feet of a driver. CONSTITUTION:When the temperature of cooling water is low at the time of engine starting, power is supplied from a battery source by an unillustrated switch to drive a fan 3 and electrify a heater 6. Therefore, the warm wind is blown off from a blowoff port 12. This casing C is fixed in the lower part of an unillustrated instrument panel to direct the blowoff port 12 to driver's feet. This construction permits to heat the feet part partially at the time of insufficienct heating in the initial stage of operation for removing the feeling of insufficient heating.

Generally used as a vehicle heating system is a so-called hot water heating system that supplies engine cooling water warmed by the engine to a heat exchanger such as a heater core, heats the introduced air, and supplies the heated air into the vehicle interior. However, when the engine starts, the temperature of the engine cooling water has not risen sufficiently, so warm air cannot be obtained.

By the way, you can get a certain feeling of warmth just by warming your feet locally. Therefore, in the present invention, a compact electric heating device consisting of a low-capacity blower and an electric beater commensurate with the battery capacity is installed at the bottom of the instrument panel or on the floor near the driver's feet. By blowing hot air directly, the system attempts to perform preliminary heating until the engine cooling water is sufficiently warmed.

FIG. 3 shows a state in which the heating device is attached to the instrument panel B below the steering shirt Hi. The other side wall of the heating device, which is opposite to the wall forming the air outlet of Kennising O, is fixed to the engine in an appropriate manner, and the air outlet 12 is directed toward the driver's feet. 〇When starting the engine, make sure that there is sufficient engine cooling water. If the air is not warmed, turn on a switch (not shown) to supply battery power to the blower motor 4 and heater 6 of the heating device, and warm air will immediately blow out from the air outlet 12 of the heating device (Fig. middle arrow). This warm air is blown directly onto the driver's feet, providing a sufficient sense of heating.

As described above, in the heating device of the present invention, the flat casing is provided with an air outlet and an air inlet, and an electric heater and a blower are also provided in the casing, so that the air outlet is connected to the driver. Since it is attached to the bottom of the instrument panel so as to face the feet, it can provide a sufficient feeling of heating to the driver until the engine cooling water warms up when the engine is started, and it consumes almost no battery.
