It is excellent as a recording medium. That is, if the trunk and track are divided into sectors on the circumference in the radial direction, the position where information is recorded can be expressed by the track and sector number. In order to access recorded information quickly, it is necessary to arrange the information in order and to make a one-to-one correspondence between the information and the address where the information is recorded.

A method was used to record the same information multiple times. In Figure 1, the circumference is divided into four groups n(1) to n(4), and one group is divided into four groups nl(1) to n1(4).
This is an example of recording the same information in different times. In this case, even if the disk-shaped recording medium has arc-shaped scratches or defects in the material, even if it is recorded multiple times in succession, all of the information recorded multiple times may be destroyed. Furthermore, since the disc-shaped recording medium is of course rotating, it is likely to be scratched in an arcuate manner by abnormal contact with a recording/reproducing head or the like or by being touched by an external object.

In addition, when recording important information, the same information is recorded several times, and in order to separate the locations where the same information is recorded as far as possible, the fiN of the sector of 11 tracks is divided by the number of times m of recording. , information (1) to information (N/m) from the first sector of the first group of m divided sector groups.

= 4, N/m = 4, that is, 4 sectors constitute one sector group. If the i-th information is recorded the j-th time as nBi), then nl(1) is sector 1 of trunk 0, n2(1) is sector 6, n3(1) is sector n4(1) is sector 3 to be recorded. n(2)
~n 1(2) is recorded in sectors 2, 6, 10, and 14. Similarly, n)(3) and nj(4) are recorded in trunk number 0. i) When N/m, let the quotient of mXi/H be q and the remainder be p, then nj(i) has the track number q, the sector number p, and p+N/m.

Therefore, even if a circumferential scratch spans N/m-1 sector groups, information can be reproduced because one sector group remains. To verify the information recorded several times, you can choose the correct information by comparing each piece of information and adding verification check information.

Especially for directory areas such as optical discs, which have a large capacity and need to be carried around manually.
Since the directory area occupies a small proportion of the total memory capacity, even if it is recorded multiple times, it is a negligible amount of the total memory capacity.
