An energy-absorbing steering device in which a base of a column tube housing a main shaft having a steering wheel at its tip is supported movably in the axial direction by a clamp bracket, and a tip of the column tube is supported by an energy-absorbing bracket, The energy absorbing bracket includes a bracket main body having a U-shaped cross section that straddles the outer peripheral surface of the column tube and is fixed at a predetermined position on the vehicle body, and a bracket main body that is bendably protruded from the end surface of the bottom plate of the main body and is fixed to a predetermined position on the vehicle body.
