Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the runaway of a carriage and other drive systems to be encountered by the forget and failure of connections of the connectors in the position detection system by a method in which on-off operations of data for carriage drive are controlled in an interlocking manner with the attaching and detaching of connectors for the carriage and the control system side. CONSTITUTION:An electric power is supplied from a power source circuit 13 to the circuit. In particular, the supply of power to the motor drive circuit 12 is made through a supply line l5 from a connector 9 for a supply line l4 and a position detection circuit. When the connector 9 is connected, a position detection signal is fed back through lines l1 and l2 and a counter 10 to the control circuit 11 for a close-loop control. On the other hand, when the connector 9 is not connected, power source supply lines l4 and l5 are separated from each other, and since no power is supplied to the motor drive circuit 12, the motor 2 becomes inoperative, and therefore, the runaway of the carriage 1 can be avoided.

Conventionally, in printers that move the carriage to the printing position using closed-loop control based on position detection signals, if a carriage drive signal is input when the position detection circuit is open, the carriage becomes uncontrolled. If the machine goes out of control, there is a risk that assembly or maintenance workers may get their fingers caught and get injured, causing a great deal of fear to workers, and improvements are desired in terms of safety. The present invention was made to prevent the carriage from running out of control as described above, and when the position detection circuit becomes open,
At the same time, the purpose of the present invention is to open the carriage drive circuit which is in an uncontrolled state so that the carriage cannot move.

ILυ month: is detected. A pulse generated by the detection circuit 6 passing through the slit array 7 is input to the counter 10 via the signal line 1h, the connector 9, and the signal line ls. By multiplying this pulse by Nla with the counter 10, the carriage 10 position fd is known.
The circuit 11 is powered manually.

Control (11) The circuit 11 outputs signals for instructing the movement and stopping of the carriage 1 to the motor drive circuit 12 via the line 18, and the motor drive circuit 12 receives the input signal at a level at which the motor 2 can be driven. Each circuit is supplied with υ1 energy from the '6 source circuit 16, but in particular the supply to the motor drive AB circuit 12 is connected to the supply line 14 as shown in the figure. This is done via the supply line 16 via the connector 9 of the position detection circuit.
