Although this type of information input device has already been used in the past, its disadvantages include the following. That is, (I) If there is a part on the CRT display screen with a light emitting amount or color that makes it impossible for the light pen to operate, even if you hold the light pen over this part, the light pen will not be able to read the position information. .

In particular, the commonly used raster scan method C
In the RT display, since the screen is scanned from the top to the bottom, a malfunction such as reading a position one position above is likely to occur. (In order to compensate for the shortcomings of B(I), it is possible to increase the brightness of the entire CRT display screen for a short time in response to the ON signal of the light pen switch, or to change the entire CRT display screen to a color that is sensitive to the light pen. However, even with this method, it is still not possible to eliminate the malfunction (■), and since the screen repeatedly flashes in a short period of time, there is a problem that the operator's visual fatigue increases.

In view of these conventional problems, the present invention improves the effective resolution of a light pen and prevents malfunctions without causing the display screen of the display means to flicker more than necessary and increasing visual fatigue of the operator. The purpose is to reduce

A host computer 1 controls and inputs a CRT controller 2, a pattern generator 3, and a light pen counter 4 through a bus 10. A video signal 11 output from the CRT controller 2 is sent from the switch 5 via the line 12 to the CRT display device 6.
displays an image on the CRT display screen. On the other hand, CR
A timing signal 13 from the T-controller 2 drives a pattern generator 3 that generates a row of frames. Therefore,
When the light pen 7 is pressed against the CRT display screen and a light pen switch signal 14 is generated, the switch 5 switches from the video signal 11 to the frame pattern signal 15 in response to a switching signal generated by the switch signal. Therefore, the frame pattern signal 15 is sent to the CRT display device 6 via the line 12,
A frame in which the light receiving section of the light pen 7 can be operated is displayed on the CRT display screen. Then, receiving the light from this frame,
A timing signal 16 is generated from the light receiving section of the light pen 7, and a clock signal 17 from the CRT controller 2 causes the light pen counter 4, which is rotating synchronously, to stop. At the same time, the switch 5 is restored and the frame display is returned to the video display. By reading the value of the light pen counter 4, the host computer 1 can know the position information where the light pen 7 is applied. FIG. 2 illustrates details of switching the display image on the CRT display screen 18.

FIG. 2A shows a normal video display, and FIG. 2B shows a frame display from when the light pen 7 is pressed until the light pen counter 4 stops. If you do this, the characters 20 will not be displayed inside the location information search section 19.
Even if the light pen 7 is placed in two parts, the position information of the light pen 7 is determined by the frame group array 21. Moreover, since the entire CRT display screen 18 does not flash at this time, the operator's eyesight does not get tired. Furthermore, when the location information search sections 19 are adjacent to each other, even if the light pen 7 is brought near the boundary of the location information search section 19, the light from the neighboring location information search section 19 will be stronger than the light pen 7. Since the light in the section where 7 is located is stronger, it is difficult to enter the light pen 7, and the malfunction that occurred when reading the adjacent position disappears. Note that the frame group array 21 is not limited to a specific portion on the CRT display screen 18, but may be displayed over the entire CRT display screen 18.

As described above, according to the present invention, the frame in which the light receiving part of the light pen can operate is made to emit light for a short time on the display screen of the display means, so that the display screen of the display means is not required as in the conventional case. There is no need to flicker more than that, preventing visual fatigue of the operator, improving the effective resolution of the light pen, and reducing the occurrence of malfunctions, which has great industrial value.
