Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the data correcting time, by displaying the candidate characters which are referred to in a character recognizing process on a CRT for a character decided unreadable by an OCR, and selecting the correct answer data among the candidate characters by means of a light pen. CONSTITUTION:A character is scanned optically by a reading device of an OCR (not shown in the figure) and fed to a CPU after photoelectric conversion and recognition. The CPU performs an operation to display 2 characters, marks, etc. on a CRT1. If an unreadable character 3 exists, a mark ''?'' is displayed on the CRT1. Then a cursor 4 is set at the position of ''?'', and at the same time the candidate characters 6 which is referred to in a character recognizing process is displayed together with a picture 5 of the unreadable character. An operator looks at the display 5 or the characters on a slip and selects a correct data ''KU'' out of candidate characters 6. This correct data is fed by means of a light pen 11 and informed to the OCR via a control mechanism 12 to correct ''?'' on the CRT1. This facilitates an easy correction of data and decreases the data correcting time.

A filled-in pattern (5) corresponding to the unreadable character (3) and candidate characters (6) are displayed. Next, the operator searches the candidate character group (6) for correct data determined from the displayed input character pattern (5). As a specific correct data input operation, each time the candidate character selection key is pressed, the cursor is shifted sequentially from the first candidate character position. When the cursor is set at the desired candidate character position, the input key 01 is pressed to input correct answer data.

The conventional OCR unreadable character correction method is configured as described above, so if there are a large number of candidate characters, it is necessary to perform key operations even for narrow openings in order to move the cursor to the desired candidate character position 1. However, there was a drawback that the operation was complicated.

This invention was made in order to eliminate the drawbacks of the conventional ones as described above, and by equipping a CRT device with a light pen mechanism, an operator can use a light pen to select correct data from a group of candidate characters. The aim is to provide all OCR devices that can input.

Next, the operation of this invention will be explained. The results read by OCR are displayed as shown by code (2) on the CRT screen (11). (6) is displayed. The number of candidate characters is arbitrary, and in order to increase the effect of this invention, it is preferable to display as many as 9 characters as possible.Next, the operator?
