Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the braking capacity of the disk brake without the necessity of increasing the weight of the brake and the cost thereof by a method wherein an intermediate pad is provided for a single caliper so that a plurality of disk plates are braked. CONSTITUTION:A pair of pads 10 and 11 comprising support plates 10a, 11a and friction members 10b and 11b and the intermediate pad 12 comprising a support plate 12a and a friction member 12b are slidably supported by a support shaft 13 within a body 8. The three pads 10, 11 and 12 are made to come close to one another by the operation of a piston 14 arranged in the body 8 and the movement of the body 8 itself and so the friction members 10b, 11b and 12b come into pressure contact with a disk plate 6 to thereby brake the latter. In this case, when two or three intermediate pads are used, it is made possible to brake three or four disk plates simultaneously.
