an absorbent pad assembly comprising a pair of outer panels overlaid on the back side of the panels; a first portion affixed to the back side of the outer panel near the opposite side edges of the absorbent pad assembly; a pair of pressure-sensitive adhesive tape strips for securing the diaper to the wearer, each of which comprises a second or adhesive portion connected to the portion and projecting from a side edge of the absorbent pad assembly; a smooth release surface formed on the back surface of the first panel so as to cover the adhesive coated surface of the folded adhesive part of the pressure sensitive adhesive tape piece under the first part of the tape piece; A disposable diaper wherein an adhesive portion of a pressure sensitive adhesive tape adheres to the release surface to maintain the outer panel overlying the first panel prior to use of the diaper.
