Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain carriage retract by utilizing a voltage generated from a DC motor caused by disc rotation inertia at the disc rotation stopping operation. CONSTITUTION:When the rotation of the disc is stopped, an input relay 3 is brought in the state as shown in broken lines and windings of a motor 4 generates respectively voltages V1, V2, V3 so as to act like a generator. The carriage retract is attained by smoothing the V1, V2, V3 generated from the motor 4 by a rectifier circuit 5 thereby forming a smoothed output voltage V and applying the voltage to both coil ends of a voice coil motor 6. Thus, no accessory such as spring or the like is required for the carriage, no effect is given to the head positioning control at normal operation. Further, the carriage retract operation is attained with a simple circuit not requiring a usual electric power supply.

関するものである。

磁気ディスク駆動装置において、ディスクの起動時、磁
気ヘッドは最初ディスクに接触しており、ディスクの回
転が上昇するに従って浮動を開始する。また、停止時は
ディスクの回転が下降するに従ってディスク接触しそい
く。これはC55(コンタクト・スタート・ストップ)
方式と呼ばれている。ディスク回転中にディスクとヘッ
ドが接触する為、ディスク上のデータ保護を考慮して、
ヘッドはディスク上の特定エリアにおいてディスクの起
動、停止を行なう必要がある。一方ディスク停止は一般
に電源を切断した時に行なわれ、ヘッドを特定位置(リ
トラクト位f)に戻すには通常電源を使用することがで
きない。そこで従来のキャリッジリトラクト方式は第1
図に示す様に、キャリッジ本体1にスブリンク2を用い
て引っばりキャリッジリトラクトを行なっているが、通
常のヘッド位置決め制御時、矢印の方向に常時力が加わ
っている為順方向移動制御時と逆方向移動制御時の力が
異なり、ヘッド位置決め制御時、VCMに印加すべき゛
1流に差が生じたり、またトラック追従制御時、定常的
に外力が加わっているため、トラック中心よりオフセッ
トしてしまう等悪影響をおよぼす。
