Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recorder capable of feeding a recording medium while stopping an ink sheet and thereby reducing the waste of the ink sheet and the number of times of replacement of the ink sheet, by providing a mechanism for retracting a back-up roll from a recording position. CONSTITUTION:The back-up roll 5' is pressed against a thermal head 4 by a lever 9 and a spring 10. The back-up roll 5' can be retracted from the pressed position through the lever 9 by rotating a cam 11 by a motor 12. When performing normal recording, the ink sheet 2 and the recording medium 1 are fed by pressing the back-up roll 5' against the thermal head 4 and a driving roll 7.
