Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the heat transferring ability of a heat exchanger by completely separating gas from liquid in a header, by connecting chambers which are separated by a partition pannel, and by providing a gas/liquid separating body to the partition pannel of a header, in a heat exchanger having many heat transfer tubes and a pair of headers which connect both ends of the heat transfer tubes. CONSTITUTION:Headers 2 and 3 are connected to both ends of many heat transfer tubes which are juxtaposed in parallel, and a partition pannel 4 in order to separate the inside of a header into several stages of chambers is provided to the inside of each header 2 and 3. A U-type tube 6, of which end is positioned in the chamber 2b on the lower stage, for instance, is fitted to the partition pannel 4 as a gas/liquid separating body 5, which connects the chamber 2a on the upper stage of a header 2 to the chamber 2b on the lower stage. The steam and liquid being fed into the header 3 from the header 2 passing through heat transfer tubes 1 are separated from each other in the chamber 2a, and the liquid only drips into the chamber 2b passing through the U-type tube 6. With such an arrangement, the liquid only can be flowed from the chamber 2a to the chamber 2b, together with the steam only can be flowed through the heat transfer tubes 1.
