Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は、カーペットの接合( seaming )
に関し、特に、カーペットを接合するだめの接合テープ
とその装置に関する。
〔発明の背景〕
最近、カーペットの設置装置とその方法の進歩ハ、カー
ペットの材オ」及びそのデザインの進歩ほど急速には行
なわれていAい。
ジュー)(jute)月利とけば精(そ毛)のカーペッ
トデザインのものが市場全支配する場合、最少の設置技
術が必要とされるものであった。
カーペットの織地とデザインに対しては簡単な設置装置
を用いてもよかったのであるが、これでは満足の行く設
置結果を得るには多数回の設置醗の言呉りをくりかえす
ものであった。
そ毛(けは繍り)のカーペットが市場を支配していたこ
とは約6年乃至8年前に紹一っだ。カーペット業界は、
おおまかなそ毛(けば織)のカーイツトのデザインから
もっと精巧なザクソ= ( Saxony )のステッ
チパターン及ヒベロアベルベット柄( velour 
velvet design )に急激に変化を遂げた
。ジュートは最早この業界ではカーイツト用の顕著々材
料でも裏打利(b玖caringmeterial )
でもなく、業界の経済状態と世界の貿易政策がこれを変
えてしまった。「アクション/? ツク( A.cti
on Back ) j、「タイパ−( Typar 
) J、「ユニタリパック( Uni tary Ba
ck)J、その他のようなものが開発されたことがこれ
らの変化の例である。裏打の新制料に用いられるポリエ
チレン系は、適度の熱に対して非常に感5一 じ易く々っている。
今日のvt・細なデザインと合成粋維材利は、結構々も
のではあるが、設置をする者にとっては厄介である。設
置作業者は、顧客が満足する結果を得るために、力ーイ
ツトの接合( seaming)に可成シの熟練を必要
とする。
設置作業者の扱う熱いアイロンからの通度の熱は裏打材
料を通り、カーベット表面に影のような効果又はもり上
った継目の形の歪みを生じる。
従って、カーペットを接合するための方法及び装置′に
改良を必要とする。
〔発明の目的〕
この発明の目的は、上言eの問題を解決する改良された
カーイツト接合テープ及びその接合装置を提供すること
にある。
〔発明の要約〕
本発明に基づくカーイツト用の接合テープは長細の平」
薄板状絣とこの上に形成これた電り抵抗手段と該基板上
に長手方向に延びるように6一 形成され?y′融可能のビードを具(fN!する。
又、この接合テープの摺合装置は、基板の両@11縁に
険抄する部分で電気抵抗手段に接する互いに離間して配
設される一対の′市道シューを有するボデーを具備して
いる。
〔実施例の説、明〕
」ソ下、図面を参照してこの発明を実施例に基づいて説
明する。
第11′Iに、この発明に基づく電気接合テープ(Be
arning tape ) 10と、との霜気接合テ
ープに雷勿を供給する電気供給装置(供給装値)12が
示これている。
?!、久接合テープ(以下、単に「複合テープ」という
。)は、可曲性の平坦々テープ14から成シ、望ましい
実施例にあっては、熱遮蔽材として作用するアルミニウ
ム箔(アルミニウム・フォイル)又はこれに半1〕する
もの扱打片(backing ) j 6 f有する就
グレード(heavygrade )の紙である。テー
プ14は、寸法及び通常のイ′−造が公知の接合テープ
であり、その上面に設置された一連の、又は、連続した
郡′気加熱回路全包含し、この回路は、この実施例にお
いては、横方向に延び、咎々が、車首しい実施例におい
ては、テープ14の上面にM単に印刷される電導インク
から成る複数の電導片18である。インクの印刷によっ
て与えられるよう々霜気加熱回路のパターンは任意の形
態を採ることができるが、望ましくは、千−プの一側縁
に極めて1隣接した部分から他側縁に極めてlli!i
:接した部分へ延びる長細片から成るものであればよい
インク片即ち宵、導片は、上述の通り、任意の形態を採
ることができるが、車重しくは、後述の通シ、熱融成物
(hot melt )を最大限に均等に加熱する形状
のもので#貢t4隣接して横方向に延びるものであると
よい。これは、複数の4!j’:めて隣接した糾jい直
線片、又は惨゛曲片の形を採ることができ、任意の多棹
の形′Lj:βもとれる。
テープ14の直接上に、又は、′eJ導回路の上方に、
補強部材20が設けられる。これらの補強部利は、通常
の構造では、ウェブ又は耕雑グラス又は他の適当な補強
コードのようなつづら折の形状の補強コードの形態をと
る。これは、熱融成物(hot melt )又は他の
接着剤で裏打に固定してもよい。rIP−融成接着剤(
hot meltadhesive) 22の検数のビ
ードが、テープの一側縁に極く隣接した部分から他側縁
の間に平行な列を成しかつテープの長手方向に延びる。
通常の場合のテープは約8列のオーダーのビードを有す
る。
この発明においては、発泡熱融成物(foamedho
t melt ) f用いるとよい。加熱装置の構造が
独特であることによシ、発泡熱融成物は、よシ迅速にし
11けかつよシ少ない容積の熱融成接着剤で完全な結合
が得られる点で、よシ経済的であることが判明した。こ
の加熱装置では発泡熱融成物を用いることができるが、
公知の加熱アイロンによる接合方法ではこれができない
。公知技術の装「f及びテープ紺合法におけるように、
加熱アイロンを熱融成物に直接当てると、熱融成9− 接着剤は〃−発する傾向にあるからである。
従って、テープは、テープに直杆絹み込寸りだ、テープ
自身の加熱要素を翁しており、これらの加熱要素は、電
気を供給さノまた時に、融けてねばねばした状態になり
、ついでカーペットの裏打又はこり、に類するものに付
着するようになっている。
供給兵馬−12として適当なものは、ボデーを構成する
大略長形のシュー又は足部26を月、俯しており、との
シュー26に支持部材28が固定され、この支持部材2
8上にヘッド30が設けられ、このヘッド30からは後
方ヘハンrル32が延びている。電槃回路が供紹装猶1
2に絹み込まれており、この実が0例では、足部26の
底から下Δ出しかつ互いに離間する一対の電導シュー3
4.36を有し、これら電導シュー 34 、 、? 
6け、テープの両側綻一部に係合し、電り抵抗要素の電
導片の両端部に接帥するのに十分にH間するようになっ
ている。
鎖側シュー34 、 、? 6の各々ば、雷嗜体381
−1〇− 40によってスイッチ42に接続されており、このスイ
ッチ42ば、押デタン式又はこれに類するもので、コー
ド44を通じて電源に接続されている。ヘッド30上に
設けた指示ランプ46を、回路の作動の如何を示すため
に、設けてもよい。望ましくは、供給装置は、電源とし
て12デルト又は24ボルト(それの効率から24ビル
トが望ましい)のような低電圧のもの全周いる。試験に
よれば、このような低電圧は適正であり、装置の安全を
確保することが判明した。電圧を標章の110?ルト又
は220デルトから所望の12デルト又は24がルトに
降下させるために逓降変圧器を設けてもよい。
〔作動〕
次VC1作動について述べる。テープを1wり合わせた
一対のカーペット部分、すなわち、カーペット片4B 
、(、!?Aの紅部の下に置き、供給装置の足部26を
テープの上に置き、電導シュー34.36を電導片18
の、テープ両側縁に隣接した部分に接触させる。脚部相
28を、カーイツト片48.48にの旧1.粁接g間を
通って上方に延ばし、ハンドル32とヘッド30をカー
イツトの上方に位置させ、回路がスイッチによって作動
されるようにする。これにより、電導シュー34.36
間に電、導片18を通じて祁、圧を印加し、かくして′
電導片18内の電流によって〃(を発生させ、足部26
をテープに沿ってルhかすのにつれて、熱融成物のビー
トラ融かしてねばねばの状態にする。次いで、供給装置
の背摺側のカーぜットの緑の玲(分はテープの上面に加
圧されて移゛合される。
テープのP融成接着剤の溶融混用け、発泡奔j゛融成物
については約240°F乃至250°F(約115℃乃
至121℃)のオーダーであるのが望ましい。非発泡性
の融成物は、約3270F(約164℃)の近傍で溶融
する。又、発泡熱融成物は非発泡性のものの約半分を使
用するだけでもよい。
テープ上の抵抗回路は、24y>?ルトのjμ合、約2
4乃至30オームのオーダーの抵抗を有することか望ま
しい。又、12?ルトに対しては、約8乃至10オーム
の範囲である。
第4図に、別の構造のテープ50を示し、これにおいて
は、基板であるテープ片又は裏打片50は、はじめの実
施例向様に、電導性材料を有し、この場合、これは炭素
繊維(carbonfiber )で形成された不織炭
素線維マット52製である。これは、電気抵抗回路網全
与えるものであって、その上に補強部材(gcrim 
) 54″ff−設け、そこに発泡接着剤の複数のビー
ド56を設ける。炭素繊維マット52は、また、ニッケ
ル又はこれに類似のもののような金属を炭素粧維上に焔
吹付け(flame 5pray )を行なって被覆さ
れてもよい。このような炭素繊維又は炭素相t411(
ンターナショナルペーパーカンパニ(Internat
ional Paper Company )から入手
でき、通常、シラスチック射出成形製品用の構造補強体
として用いられている。
第5図に更に他の実施例を示し、これにおいては、基板
である4拐シート又はテープ58に13− 補強部材(gcrim)  t; 0 ?設けており、
そして、この例の場合、補強部材6θけ電導性粉末又は
炭素、金属1粉若しくは電導性インクのような材料を含
浸した1片維ガラス、ジュート又はこれに類似するもの
のコードから成る補強部材である。
この場合には、補強部材コードはテープ58の両側縁に
極めて@接する部分造画び、それが供給装置の電導シュ
ー34.36と保合できるように々っていなくては々ら
ない。発泡熱M1重接着剤のビード62は補強部相上に
設けられてテープ58の長手方向に延びている。
以上に、特定の実施例についてこの発明を説明したが、
この発明の技術節回に演する限り、種々の変更及び変形
例がこの発明に包含される。

Claims (9)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)平用で薄い細長の裏打片と、該裏打用土に横方向
    にかつ該裏打片の両側縁の近くまで延びるように設けら
    れた複数の霜−気抵抗体と、該裏打用土に設けられその
    長手方向に延び熱感応性の接着剤から成る複数のビード
    とを具備して成る接合テープ。
  2. (2)前記電気抵抗体は、前記裏打片の表面に印刷され
    るインキである特許請求の範囲第1項記載の接合テープ
  3. (3)  前記電気抵抗体は電導性繊維である特許請求
    の範囲第1項記載の接合テープ。
  4. (4)前記電導性繊維は不織マットに形成される特許請
    求の範囲第3項記載の接合テープ。
  5. (5)  前記電導性繊維は炭素繊維である特許請求の
    範囲第3項記載の接合テープ。
  6. (6)前記炭素#維は金属の被覆を有する特許請求の範
    囲第5項記載の接合テープ。
  7. (7)前記炭素繊維は不織マットに形成される特許請求
    の範囲第5項記載の接合テープ。
  8. (8)  前館接着剤は発泡、熱融成物である特許請求
    の範囲第1項記載の接合テープ。
  9. (9)前記接着剤は、約240°F乃至2500F′の
    融点を有する特許請求の範囲第1項記載の接合テープ。 αO)前記裏附片は前配市、気抵抗体を規定する補強片
    を有する特許請求の範囲第1項記載の接合テープ。 01)平畑で薄い細長の基板と、該基板上に複数個の電
    気抵抗体を規定する導通手段と、該基板の少々くとも一
    方に設けた複数の熱感応性接着剤のビードとを具備して

    裏打片の両側縁に隣接する該電気抵抗体の部分に係合す
    るように互いに離間して配設された一対の電導シューを
    有するポデーを包含し該電気抵抗体に電流を供給する供
