Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the desalination of sea water without the need to make the capacity of a tank for supplying water to a reverse osmosis device larger and without using a pump for backwashing water, by using desalinated liquid waste of sea water discharged from the reverse osmosis device as backwashing water in a sand filter for the pretreatment of sea water. CONSTITUTION:Sea water is supplied 2 to a plurality of sand filters 3 by a sea water intake pump 1. The sea water from which suspended matter has been removed by the sand filters 3 is introduced under a highly pressurized condition through a conduit 6 having a check filter 4 and a high pressure pump 5 into a plurality of reverse osmosis modules 8 of a reverse osmosis device 7. Then, said sea water is desalinated by the device 7, and the formed sea water is withdrawn through a conduit 9. On the other hand, highly pressurized salty conc. liquid waste is introduced through a conduit 10 for backwashing water to the outlet parts of the sand filters 3 and used as backwashing water therefor.

の砂濾過器(3)の出口部に導かれ、その逆洗水として
用いられる。
