PURPOSE:To provide a press treating device for empty cans which has a simplified construction and is improved in a screening function by providing a mechanism for selecting a material to be pressed on a chute side and turning the screening mechanism with a pressing lever which is provided to a pressing plate. CONSTITUTION:An empty can in a press section 17 is pressed by a pressing plate 13, and a treated material K' falls onto a chute 19. If the material K' is a nonmagnetic material, the material glides on the chute 19 and is released into one container. If the material K' is a magnetic material, the material is stopped temporarily on the chute 19 by the attraction effect of a permanent magnet 29.
