Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a fire grate and check the generation of NOx by a method wherein the surface temperature of the fire grate of a combustion furnace equipped with a moving-grate stoker is measured and the flow rate of fire grate temperature control liquid to mix with combustion air is controlled in response to the surface temperature of the fire grate. CONSTITUTION:The fuel fed in a combustion furnace 2 by a fuel feeder 1 falls down on a moving-grate stoker 3 and is completely burnt by combustion air 5 supplied from wind boxes 4. The combustion gas 6 is discharged from the upper part of the combustion furnace 2 and at the same time the combustion ash is discharged from an ash discharge port 7. At this time, proper quantities of recirculating gas 8 is introduced through the wind boxes 4 located adequately to the moving-grate stoker 3 by means of a fire grate temperature measuring device 11. Consequently, the fire grate is prevented from being burnt-out and at the same time the formation of clinker and generation of NOx can be checked.

With the depletion of petroleum resources, the use of solid fuels such as coal, coke, park, and waste tires has been increasing in recent years, and one effective method for burning these is the grate combustion method. Of these, the most typical continuous combustion type is the bed grate type combustion device.

At this time, a part of the combustion gas 6 is cooled as recirculation gas 8 by an air preheater 9, and then its flow rate is adjusted by a manual damper 10, and then passed through the wind box 4. Since there is no means to measure the grate temperature, it is impossible to maintain the grate temperature at an appropriate value by adjusting the introduction position and amount of recirculation gas. The grate often burns out due to the occurrence of
