It relates to an image printing method in which the image is then sent to a playback device to obtain a playback image (hard copy, soft copy).

In this conventional method, various images such as X-ray film are read by a reading device 1, the image information obtained by the reading is stored in a database 2, and when a reproduction request is made, a reproduction device such as a CRT is used. (Hereinafter, explanation will be given using a CRT as an example.) In step 3, the image information is called up and displayed. However, in this conventional method, the image information of the database 2, that is, the output of the reading device 1, is given to the CRl 3 as is, so the contrast range of the image information < m degree range)
A problem may occur if the contrast expressible range (111 degrees range) of the CRT 3 and the CRT 3 do not match. In other words, if the contrast range of the image information is wider than the contrast expressible range of the CRT 3 or a part of the image information extends beyond the contrast expressible range of the CRT 3, a part of the image information (the image information of the part that protrudes from the = 1 contrast expressible range of the CRT 3) ,CR
It will not be displayed on the T screen. Such loss of image information is extremely important for diagnosis, and often leads to misdiagnosis.

It is configured to provide the image information through the image information converter 4 instead of directly providing it to T3. The image information converter 4 shown here converts image information (for one screen) about the image to be displayed.
τ includes a maximum/minimum detection section 41 for determining the maximum and minimum values of , and a look-up table section 42 for converting image information into a form capable of expressing the contrast of the CRT 3. The look up daple section 42 includes the maximum/minimum detection section 4

It has a look-up table (conversion table) used when converting input image information so as to correspond to the above.

Ilax is specific to CRT3, so CRT
3, the value is constant, but the maximum value lll1a× and the minimum value 1 min of image information vary depending on the display screen. Therefore, the look-up table section 42 creates a look-up table for each display image based on the output of the maximum/minimum detection section 41, or prepares a large number of look-up tables in advance. Then, the optimum look up table is selected from among these based on the output of the maximum/minimum detection section 41.

The image information converter 4 converts the CRT 3's contrast expressible range (01n to
Qmax), so even if the image information has a wide contrast range, all of it will be expressed on the CRT screen. Moreover, speaking only of this example,
Since the image information is expressed over the entire contrast expressible range of the CRT 3, it is reproduced as a good image. Further, in this embodiment, since image information having a narrow contrast range is expressed by increasing the number of gradations, the image can be reproduced with high contrast. Furthermore, the look-up table itself has one output corresponding to one input, and no operation is required to obtain the output, so the conversion speed is fast, and the C The display speed on R'T 3 is also quite fast.

Therefore, when making a diagnosis based on this reproduced image, accurate diagnosis can be made. Further, the image information is converted using a look-up table in which the maximum value and minimum value of the contrast range of the image information correspond to the maximum value and 111 minimum value of the contrast expressible range of the reproduction device. if,
In addition to the above advantages, it is possible to obtain an image with good contrast and to increase the conversion speed of the image information.
