縮空気をライナに設けた空気導入口から燃焼領域に供給
して燃焼ガスを発生させ、該燃焼ガスにより前記燃焼領
域の下流に設けた触媒ユニットを予熱して該触媒ユニッ
トの活性化を図るようにした触媒燃焼器において、前記
ライナに設ける空気導入口を上流から下流にかけて少な
(とも二段に形成して、当該少なくとも二段に形成した
空気導入口から供給される圧縮空気により所定の空燃比
の範囲で前記燃焼領域に拡散炎が発生可能なようになす
と共に、前記下流側に設けた空気導入口を開閉自在とな
して、該下流側に設けた空気導入口を開放した状態で得
られる拡散炎により前記触媒ユニットの活性化を行うと
共に、該触媒ユニットが活性化されると前記下流側に設
けた空気導入口を閉成して前記拡散炎を消炎し、完全気
化混合気を発生させるようにしたことを特徴とする触媒
