In a helical intake port configured with a spiral part formed in the intake valve layer and an inlet passage part connected tangentially to the spiral part and extending almost straight, air is taken in from near the inlet opening of the inlet passage part. A movable partition extending to the vicinity of the stem is disposed so as to be able to project downward from the upper wall surface of the inlet passage into the inlet passage, the partition wall divides the inlet passage into a pair of passages, and one of the divided inlet passages is provided. A rotary valve is placed at the entrance of the passage, and when the engine is operating at low load, the rotary valve is opened and the bulkhead is protruded into the entrance passage.When the engine is running at high speed and high load, the rotary valve is opened and the bulkhead is opened at the entrance of the passage. A flow control device for a helical intake port that is retracted from the front.
