Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce noise by disposing a relatively thin rubber lining coating on the inside wall of a hollow metal cylinder forming the above roller to absorb and damp a crashing sound produced by contact of a steel material with the roller. CONSTITUTION:A relatively thin rubber lining coating 2 is disposed on the cylindrical inner peripheral wall 1a and both inside walls 1b of both end plates of a hollow metal cylinder 1 forming a roller for a roller table. The above coating 2 is formed by applying rubber coating produced by processing regenerated rubber and synthetic resin with a solvent such as naphtha to the respective walls 1a, 1b with a spray. The thickness of the coating 2 is, for example, about 1 to 10mm., and preferably about 2mm.. In this arrangement, a crashing sound produced by contacting a steel material with a roller can be absorbed and damped to reduce noise.
