該ピニオンとかみ合うラック歯を有するラック棒と該ケ
ーシング内にあって該ラック棒を摺動支持するプランジ
ャーと該プランジャーをラック棒側へ押圧するスプリン
グとからなるラックビニ、オン式ステアリング装置にお
いて、該プランジャーは自己潤滑性を有する合成樹脂か
らなる摺動面材と該摺動面材を保持するプランジャー基
体−とからなり、該摺動面材には前記ラック棒を摺動支
持する摺動面と該摺動面と反対側の面にラック棒軸方向
に直交し、かつ中央部に頂点を有し該頂点からラック棒
軸方向の周縁部にかけて下り傾斜を有する山形製面部が
形成されており、該プランジャー基体にはラック棒軸方
向に直交し中央部が深く両側に向って次第に浅くなる7
字底を有する凹面部が形成されており、該プランジャー
基体の凹面部には該摺動面材がその山形製面部を嵌入し
て保持されてなることを特徴とするラックピニオン式ス
