Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a transfer paper capable of providing even a protective layer for an image formed on an image-receiving paper with a simple construction, wherein sublimable coloring matters and a transparent heat-fusible protective film (comprising a wax as a main constituent and comprising an ultraviolet light absorbent) are selectively applied on the surface of the same base paper. CONSTITUTION:The first color, cyan, of a color transfer paper 8 is positioned at a thermal head part, and when generation of heat at a thermal head 16 and driving of a drum 14 are started, a sublimable dye for cyan is sublimed, is transferred onto the image-receiving paper 15, and is solidified there, whereby a cyan- colored image is recorded. Subsequently, recording in yellow and recording in magenta are sequentially conducted. Thereafter, the heat-fusible protective film 11 is transferred onto the thus color-recorded paper 15 by a similar method. The wax in the protective film 11 is melted, and is infiltrated into the gaps between fibers of the surface of the paper 15 to be strongly bonded to the latter. On the other hand, since the surface of the base paper 9 is smooth and the base paper 9 is weaky bonded to the protective film 11, when the color transfer paper 8 is separated from the image-receiving paper 15, the once melted film 11 is transferred onto the surface of the image-receiving paper 15.

Among these, thermal transfer methods using sublimable dyes are considered the most promising, as they have the advantage of being able to freely express color shading and requiring no special maintenance.

この熱転写方式の原理を第1〜2図により説明する。The principle of this thermal transfer method will be explained with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2.

It is made up of three different types of heat sublimable dyes: , and CIY. As shown in FIG. 2, this transfer paper 1 is
It is sandwiched between an image receiving paper 4 wound around a drum 3 and a thermal head 5, and the dye on the transfer paper 1 is transferred to the image receiving paper 4 by the heat generated by the thermal head 5, and the dye is transferred to each of the primary colors of magenta, magenta, and yellow. If you transfer the images over and over again, you will be able to create a color record.

According to this method, recording of excellent image quality with high resolution and good shading can be obtained. However, the weather resistance of the dye transferred onto the image-receiving paper 4 is poor, and the color fades over time, losing the vividness of the color. As the degree of fading differs for each primary color, even the color tone changes, resulting in quality It has the major drawback of impairing the

In order to prevent this drawback, the current method used is to wrap the recorded image receiving paper 4 in a plastic film 6 coated with a high-temperature adhesive, as shown in FIG. Since a large amount of heat is required, the heating roll device is time-consuming, and the plastic film 5 is also expensive and has the disadvantage that the finished product is hard and lacks natural properties.

In the state shown in FIG. 6, the color transfer paper 8 is coated with cyan, which is the first color of color recording, when it hits the thermal head section. The thermal head 16 starts to generate heat and the tram 14 starts to drive, causing the cyan sublimable dye to generate heat. It sublimates according to the amount, and the image receiving paper 15
It transfers to the top and solidifies, recording a cyan image. The thermal head 16 then separates from the drum 14 due to the retraction of a suppression mechanism (not shown). During this time, the position of the drum 14 is controlled so as to match the recording of the next color, and the color transfer paper 8 moves to the right, and the yellow color comes to the thermal head section. At this point, the thermal head 16 is suppressed again, and yellow recording is performed. In the same way, when the third color, magenta, is recorded, the color recording fd is completed.

The wax (c) in the heat-melting protective film 11 is melted by the heat generated by the thermal head 160, enters the gaps between the fibers of the image receiving paper surface, and is strongly bonded to the receiving paper. The color transfer paper 8 is smooth and has a weak bond with the heat-melting protective film, and when the color transfer paper 8 is separated from the image-receiving paper 15, the melted heat-melting protective film moves to the surface of the image-receiving paper 15.

When the transfer is completed in this way, the recording surface of the image receiving paper 15 is covered with a protective film 11' containing an ultraviolet absorber and an antioxidant, as shown in FIG. The dye on the receiver paper is stable and can maintain its beautiful color tone for a long time.

Although granular UV absorbers and antioxidants are used in the examples, it goes without saying that wax-soluble types can have exactly the same effect. Further, in the embodiment, color recording was performed using three colors, but the same effect can be achieved even if black is further added. Further, in the examples, the case where a sublimable dye is used as the pigment is described, but the same effect can be obtained even when other dyes or young thorns are used.

Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the present invention, a protective layer is provided on a part of the transfer paper for color recording, so there is no need for a special transfer paper, and the heating device in the recording device can be removed. Since it can be used, a protective film can be formed at low cost and immediately on the image-receiving paper surface after recording. This prevents the image surface from being affected by ultraviolet rays, oxygen in the air, etc., and allows beautiful images to be maintained for a long period of time. Further, by imparting smoothness to the surface of the base paper, the surface of the protective film can be given an appropriate level of gloss, and a natural and dignified image can be provided.
