Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily provide a protective film for an image excellent in weather resistance or the like, by a method wherein a transfer paper provided with a transparent heat-fusible protective film containing a wax and an ultraviolet light absorbent is brought into close contact with a recording surface of an image-receiving paper having been recorded thereon, and the protective film is transferred onto the image-receiving paper by heating. CONSTITUTION:The heat-fusible protective film 12 comprising a wax as a main ingredient and an ultraviolet light absorbent 10, an antioxidant 11 or the like is provided on the surface of a base paper 9 to obtain the transfer paper 8. The transfer paper 8 is placed on the image-receiving paper 13 subjected to color recording so that the protective film 12 is faced to a recorded image 14, the resultant laminate is clamped between a roller 15 and a thermal head 16, and a pressure is applied and heating is conducted while driving the roller 15. By this, the molten wax in the protective film 12 is infiltrated between fibers of the surface of the image-receiving paper 13, and is strongly bonded to the paper 13. Then, the image-receiving paper 13 and the base paper 9 are separated from each other, and the protective film 12 is transferred onto the paper 13, thereby providing the protective film 12' for the image 14.

Conventional Structures and Problems There has recently been a demand for devices that can make hard copies of color images from televisions and the like, and various color recording systems have been considered to realize this. Among these, thermal transfer methods using sublimable dyes are considered the most promising, as they have the advantage of being able to freely express color shading and requiring no special maintenance.

この熱転写方式の原理を第1〜2図により説明する。The principle of this thermal transfer method will be explained with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2.

1 is a transfer paper, for example, cyan C, magenta M is printed on the base paper 2.
It is constructed by applying three different heat sublimation paints: , Yellow Y. As shown in FIG. The above dye is transferred to the image receiving paper 4, and the primary colors of cyan, magenta, and yellow are transferred in layers to complete a color recording.

According to this method, recording of excellent image quality with high resolution and good a-tone expression can be obtained. However, the weather resistance of the dye transferred onto the image receiving paper is poor, and the color fades over time, causing the colors to lose their vividness and differing degrees of fading for each primary color, resulting in changes in tone and quality. It has the major drawback of causing damage. The main cause of color fading is the influence of ultraviolet rays, but other factors include oxidation and instability of the dye itself.

The melted wax in the image receiving paper 13 enters the gaps between the fibers on the surface of the image receiving paper 13 and is strongly bonded to the image receiving paper 13. On the other hand, the paper 90 has a smooth surface and is connected to the heat-melting protective film 12 1'.
,] is weak, and when the image receiving paper and the weather-resistant layer transfer paper are separated, the heat-melting transfer layer 12 is transferred to the surface of the image receiving paper 13. At this time, the ultraviolet absorber and antioxidant 11-agent are also transferred to the surface of the image-receiving paper.

When the transfer is completed in this manner, the recording surface of the image-receiving paper 13 is covered with a protective film 12' containing an ultraviolet absorber and an antioxidant, and is protected against ultraviolet rays. The beams on the A-receiving paper are stable because they are blocked from oxygen during expansion, and can maintain a beautiful gold tone for a long time.

Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the present invention, the heat generating device within the recording device can be used without requiring a special heat source.
A natural protective film can be formed on the surface of the image receiving paper. Moreover, this transfer paper is economical because it is mainly used for paper and wax, and can be used as a support. Further, by imparting smoothness to the surface of the base paper, the surface of the protective film can be given an appropriate level of gloss, and a natural and dignified image can be maintained for a long period of time.
