Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable beads to be formed simultaneously with upsetting process so as to remarkably improve the working efficiency by forming bead part shaping flutes and ridges on the metal mold which serves for upsetting process to both ends of an axle housing or so. CONSTITUTION:When a thick part 9 and a plurality of bead parts 10 are formed on both end parts of an axle housing 1 in order to mount a hub wheel mounting flange (not illustrated) on both end parts thereof, unupsetting and coining metal mold 2 is prepared. Said metal mold 2 is built up with a bottomed cylindrical cap 2A and a columnar core metal 2B having the diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the cylindrical part 4 of the cap. Four flutes 5 are formed on the inner wall face of the cylindrical part 4 thereof while four ridges 7 are formed on the external face of the core metal 2B at the position coinciding with said flutes 5, and both metals 2A and 2B are integrated with each other by screwing a thread 6 in a threaded hole. The metal mold 2 which is shaped as above is pressed on both end parts of the housing 1 to form the thick part 9 and bead parts 10.

方、アクスルハウジング等の両端部に肉盛りを施すこと
にょって−たん同両端部が7ランジ側の嵌合孔よりも大
径となる様に加工した後、この肉盛り部(ビード部)の
一部を真円加工を介して削り取ることにより、7ランジ
側の嵌合孔と一致させる方。

を試みたものである。即ち本発明はアクスルハウジング
等においてはその両端部に強度を持せる必要上回部に厚
肉部を形成すべく据込み加工が施されることに鑑みてそ
の改善を試みたものであって、据込み加工時における押
圧力を介してビード部を一体に膨出させる様にしたこと
、更に具体的には据込み用の金型内にビード部形成用の
凸凹条を設けることによって据込み加工と同時にビード
部を形成する様にしたことをその特徴とするものである
。そして本発明の要旨は有底円筒状に形成するキャップ
と、同キャップの内壁面との間に据込み空間を存してキ
ャップの中心部に嵌挿する芯金より成り、芯金の外周部
にはその長手方向に沿って複数条の凸条を突設するとと
もにキャップの内周部には同突条と相対応させて複数条
の四条を刻設する据込み用金型をアクスルハウジング等
の両端部に対峙させて設け、両金型は同アクスルハウジ
ングの両端部を上記据込み空間内に嵌挿する状態におい
て相対方向に向けて押圧することにより、同アクスルハ
ウジング等の両端部には内周部に向けて厚肉部を膨出さ
せるとともに外周部に向けて複数条のビード部を膨出さ
せる様に構成したことにある。

なったことにより、前述の従来方法と比較してその作業
能率を向上させることが出来るとともにビード部に不揃
いが生じないことによりその後作業としての真円加工を
スムーズに行なうことが出来、その作業性を向上させる
ことが出来るに至った。そして又溶接熱による悪影響を
回避することが出来、その品質を向上させることが出来
るに至った。
